Anyone here know enough to guide me on Home UPS/Inverters ?

Title. thanks 
my goal, 1000w load, need a backup for 7-8 hrs. recommend me what capacity of inverters and tubular batteries that i need to buy

Cyberpower and APC are the two brands I would look at for UPS's. Then just decide how much wattage you need and how many minutes you want the system to remain powered for. There are runtime/power draw graphs on both websites for all their various models.

this is actually for the whole building, say 2 CFL(50wx2), an LCD TV,,desktop PC(100-200w),  and few other things, say the load is like 500-700w with all appliances combined. i dont know what capacity of batteries or inverters to buy.  also my goal is for longer backup, say 7-8 hrs.

You'd probably need a few of these to be able to do what you're wanting.

A small UPS capable of handling things for a few minutes and a cheap portable generator would be the best thing (short of spending (tens of) thousands of dollars).

that is why i'll couple them with an inverter, i just dont know what combination should i go with. i'm talking batters in terms of 150 to 200 AH coupled with 2kva to 2.5 kva inverter, just dont know the specifics as to if i should connect 2 batter's in parallel or in series

What batteries and inverters are you looking at.

That will make a difference as to whether they should be in parallel or series.
