On a bed? The only laptop I'd dare use on a bed without fear of it overheating is a ThinkPad T-series or X-series (T430, T440, T450, T460 or X240, X250, X260)

Get a used thinkpad with 1080p IPS screen.

Before you buy amp and dac.  My thoughts on the M50x  Ultimate Ears Reference monitor review I might have a thing for audio...

My main Headphones and IEMs:  K612 pro, HD 25 and Ultimate Ears Reference Monitor, HD 580 with HD 600 grills

DAC and AMP: RME ADI 2 DAC

Speakers: Genelec 8040, System Audio SA205

Receiver: Denon AVR-1612

Desktop: R7 1700, GTX 1080  RX 580 8GB and other stuff

Laptop: ThinkPad P50: i7 6820HQ, M2000M. ThinkPad T420s: i7 2640M, NVS 4200M

Asus F555LB-DM375H

It will overheat and die within a year

This is the area tablets excel in. Laptops are hot, noisy or poor performing and are horrible to have in bed. If you fall asleep and kick it off the bed, it's more likely to be damaged, and if you are listening to something in bed and roll over or something, it's much harder to reposition a laptop. And you have to dick around with keyboards and trackpads in the dark or deal with backlights while you're trying to zone out in the dark.

For $900US, an iPad Air 2 and a nice Bluetooth speaker to hang on the wall, or iPad Pro 10" would be my preferred options. More focus and money is spent on the screen and software optimisation, and content consumption experience, rather than pointless specs such as RAM or CPU. None of this overheating jizzle.

You will need at least a Haswell Generation ThinkPad. Those can survive FHD Flash on a bed without the fan even turning on. (although it does depend on the model) Look out for something like a T450s: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lenovo-ThinkPad-T450s-i5-5200U-12GB-256GB-1080p-FHD-IPS-7PRO-Backlit-KB-AC-WiFi-/262402534912?hash=item3d1868ee00:g:0KoAAOSwiYFXHCzL#viTabs_0
