560 Ti 2GB not using all its RAM?

I was running some tests on heaven benchmark and noticed I was getting frametimes like this:

 

 

Those are some mighty stuttery frame times. Granted it's Heaven Extreme and I'm managing only 20 fps. But the one thing that concerned me is that my VRAM utilization never went over 977MB. You can see that in the full screenshot.

 

 

However GPU-Z says the card is a 2GB SKU.

 

 

I tested other programs (Witcher 3, Wargame: Red Dragon) and neither went over 1GB utilization either.

 

Why might this be?

 

Edit: I'm on driver version 362.00

Yes I know it's a lot less real estate than 1080p, but still. I could use dynamic super resolution to simulate a higher resolution.

Unigine Heaven doesn't use much VRAM, that's just the way it runs. Possibly those games too, though I'd have expected The Witcher 3 to use more.

Give that a shot, but I don't know if games at that resolution would really need more than 1GB of RAM.

Can you suggest a benchmark that maxes out on VRAM? Maybe some compute stuff. Just so I know the other gig of memory's working.

Compute stuff usually doesn't use much VRAM either. Like Folding@Home uses less than Windows Aero...

 

A game like Shadow of Mordor would be a good test.

Don't have that game, but I'll report back with results from running Valley at 2560x1600.

Witcher 3 uses 2-2.5GB at 1080p and 1-1.5 at 900p
