I usually don't do consumer devices, but I will give it a shot.

 

I would not spend your money on that model, but get a TL-WDR3600 (http://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-Link-TL-WDR3600-Wireless-Gigabit-Storage/dp/B008QBAXI4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1379806230&sr=8-1&keywords=TL-WDR3600). it provides better speeds for a better price. This one also supports DD-WRT.

 

I'd also stay away from the newer brands (Asus, WD, ...), as they don't have much experience and tend to lack on some sides (mostly stability).

I am looking at getting a router to improve the appalling wifi of the Virgin Media "Super"hub 2. I would rather not spend too much, preferably under about £70/$100 (UK prices seem to be way higher than US prices on routers though :(). I found this product http://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-Link-TL-WR2543ND-450Mbps-Dual-Band-Wireless/dp/B006B3BM9I/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1378072905&sr=8-3 and I was wondering whether it would be a good purchase or whether it would be a good idea to spend some more and get a better product. It will be used by several people in the house, including for games over wifi and youtube. I intend to install DD-WRT on the new router when I buy it (unless anyone can give a better suggestion).
