confirmed Weird Site Thumbnails on FB Chat

When I send a link to a LTT thread to someone on Facebook, I get some weird ass thumbnail. Take a look:

 

This is on the desktop version of FB, zoomed in for higher resolutions and stuffs.

 

Where the heck are these thumbnails coming from? How does FB (and probably other sites) find thumbnails for sites? I think I remember the old forums just showing the old forum software logo or something, I dunno.

 

But this is giving me nightmares, please change it if possible

The only way we can control what image is used is by using the same image for every page on the site, which we may end up doing, but it isn't really what that feature was designed for. Facebook's choice of image is remarkably poor though.
