How waterproof is Galaxy s7?

smeek14

Hey, so I hear that the Galaxy s7 is waterproof.  But will the speaker be damaged by water?  Also will pool chemicals and dirt from lakes/oceans damage it?

It's not even out yet so we don't know for sure.

My guess is that the speaker will be fine, but don't bring it in the pool or lakes with dirty water.. just no

It's ip68 rated which means that it can be submerged in 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes.  It's tested in fresh water so I wouldn't take a chance with chemicals and oceans.

I'm not a fan of the s6 and s7 changes, I'll keep my s5.

Samsung traded functionality and durability for aesthetics. They look really fragile to me, with backs made out of glass.

Pretty much everyone uses a case anyway, which alters the looks, so don't see the point in making parts of a phone covered by your case or shell look purdy.

Also don't like not having a removable battery, which is important for me working 24 hour ambulance shifts and using everything from maps to looking up protocols or drug dosages or googling stuff or phoning hospitals to give reports or seek medical direction.

My s5 has been the best purchase I've ever made.

Waterproof and Water resistant are two EXTREMELY different terms, my friend. Plus, as @Amazingasian said, it is IP68 rated, so up to 1m for 30 minutes is all its rated for.
