What size and resolution tv do y'all use in the bedroom?

TacticlTwinkie

Alrighty, so I'm looking for a tv for the bedroom.  But I'm having a hard time deciding between a 32" tv and a 40". The downside of a 32" is that most are 720p. But I feel as though 40" is a little too big for the room...but dat 1080p doe.

Our heads are going to be about 8 feet from the planned tv spot while laying down. It will be wall mounted, then swung out about 45 degrees or so. I think the 40" will stick out from the wall too much and invade walking space. But I can deal with that last bit.

I'm rambling now, so I'll end this. What size tv's and what resolutions do you guys use in your bedrooms?

55 inch in the lounge but no TV at all in the bedroom, if i feel like watching Netflix in bed i use my laptop :)

I think you will be fine with a 40 inch, if you're not sure take a film with you into the store and ask them to play it on the TV you're thinking of buying to test the quality at various distances.

I have a 32" 720p TV that I never use and bought almost 10 years ago. If I had to do it again though I'd buy the same size. If 35/36" was a thing I'd probably buy one of those though. Anything larger just seems way too big for what is most of the time a small room.

That's what we are currently using. But my desk is currently not in the ideal watching position for two. That's why we are going to add a big screen.

That's what I'm thinking. The room isn't super big. It's a rectangular shape, and the spot on the wall that I plan on putting the tv isn't that far from the bed. I held a measuring tape up to the spot and I felt that 40" was too much.

Maybe be I should track down a 32" 1080p screen. I'm sure there's one out there that's reasonably priced.

Fair enough. Yea at only 8 ft away... 32 inch would be better for sure... I'd also highly recommend OLED 'cause brightness eye strain in bed is always an issue, and OLED lets you dim the shit out of the display without blacks washing everything out.

But that ain't cheap...

Anyways, if I had to recommend a specific model, I'd say this one "Samsung UE32H6400"

As stunning as OLED is, it's out of my budget. Now when I get around to setting up a home theater, then I might splurge a bit on an OLED display.

So here is an update for anyone who cares. We decided to go with a 1080p 32" tv. We went to Best Buy today and found an Insignia unit for only $150. What a steal, but the low price left me worried about panel quality. But I decided to take a gamble and bought it. After a few moments of playing with settings, we found ourselves a nice bedroom tv. The size is just right for us. Any bigger, and it would have dominated the space.

None.

The bedroom is strictly for sleeping/sex. It's bad enough people are glued to their smart phones.

Well once the sexy time is over, why not watch a movie? Or how about a sexy porno to get him/her in the mood? ;)

I think it depends on what you're using it for. I watch blu rays in the living room so that's where I want high def picture and sound. In the bedroom we only watch sitcoms before bed so there's no reason to have anything else than the hand me down 720p we have. My point is, think about the content you're using it for.

There's no way I can add a TV in my bedroom and use it normal, so I don't have one.
