Go to solution Solved by TheRandomness,

The build you suggested is good (Please use http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/ to make lists in the future) but please don't use that PSU, choose one from Tier 1-3 (preferably 1-2) on this list: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/406160-psu-ranking-and-tiers/ Also, you may want to get an R9 390 as 144Hz is harder to push than 60Hz (afaik) and maybe an SSD too.

Btw, welcome to the forums :D Please remember to follow your own threads.

Overview:

So I just moved from ps3 to pc recently, looking for a whole new build as I am sure that there is no point in trying to upgrade this one. My budget is around 600-650£ for the actual computer and around 200£ max for the monitor

I mainly play CS:GO and payday 2 but I want to play more recent games (GTA V, FO4, Bo3 ect.)

Monitor:

I'm looking for a 24" 144hz 1080p TN monitor if you need to know that :):

Asus VG248QE

Build:

And the build I have in mind is:

Corsair CX600w

Fractal design core 3200

MSI Radeon 380 ( I was told that the GTX970 is a bit overkill for the games I normally play, and I can still upgrade In the future)

Seagate barracuda 1TB

Kingston hyperX fury (2x4GB)

Cooler master 212 evo

Intel core i5 4690k

MSI z97 pc mate (I'm not sure what to do about the motherboard but I was hoping to spend about 60-75£)

Why not use Skylake? And that PSU is not very safe for anything above an office build.

Sounds good, but the corsair CX line is not meant for gaming less for oc'ing. Get a seasonic, super flower, evga g2 or XFX PSU

I had no previous knowledge of these. Through google, most people seem to think that the 4690k is a pretty good sweet spot for the price

Ty,

would going up all that money be really worth it? CSGO I know is a CPU intensive game, and on most games I play 1024x768, with low-medium settings (my eyes get tired and stuff) so I thought that there would be no point in going for that?

Yeah I guess you're right with that, an R9 380 should be able to handle those games you suggested fine at that res.

do you have any idea what sort of FPS I would get with this computer? I think I will swap out the PSU and I may check out the newer architecture chipsets to see what they are like

Depends on the game but I'd say a good 50-60+FPS in most if not all games.

I'll make myself clearer: 50 minimum with 60 or more average. Plus an R9 390 is more powerful than a 970.
