Asus RoG laptop 960m throttling at 74*C

don_svetlio

So I was reading up on this laptop since I might end up getting it as university requires me to be on the move more and I do like to be able to game while at my Mom's and such but came across the edit in the "Thermals" section of the review saying that the 960M throttles down to 500MHz at 74*C. Anyone got experience with this? Ideas?

The alternative is either this which even has a 128-GB SSD for the same price and a Skylake chip (no review of it tho): http://laptop.bg/laptops-asus-GL552-asus_gl552vw_cn211d_256gbssd_128gbssd
Or this - the Lenovo Y50 which has the small disadvantage of high CPU temps when gaming: http://laptop.bg/laptops-lenovo-Y50-lenovo_y50_59442612

Here is a review about the ASUS GL552VW: http://www.ultrabookreview.com/8975-asus-rog-gl552vw-review/

I just found it, thanks though. I do like the temps, VERY impressive - max furmark + CPU stress test results in 87*C max for the CPU and 66*C for the GPU - that's VERY impressive but the plastic build quality kinda puts me off a bit.

EDIT: I was looking at a 950M version ._.

I know someone who had a laptop similar to this that had an 860m and IIRC it never throttled

I find it strange as well - the 960M should be fine even with 85*C temp so for it to throttle at 74*C is strange.
