Posted July 14, 2013 · Original PosterOP So I decided to make a few custom mods to my old Antec 900 case. I purchased this case in 2008. Although I want a new case im stuck with this one for now so I decided to spice it up a bit. Mods to the chassis Include. -CPU cutout -PSU cutout so I could invert my PSU and intake fresh air from the bottom. - 8 pin power cable hole - added holes for psu cables and better cable management. - Painted the Chassis white. Posted July 20, 2013 Cool, I like this mod. I would have done something similar with my Antec 900 if I hadn't given it to a friend. If you don't mind me asking, how are the rubber covers held in place around your cable management cuts? I'm working on some cuts in a project case and was going to slice some heatshrink to cover and glue it. Posted July 20, 2013 · Original PosterOP I used the rubber sleeve from an old s video cable. after i cut the corners the rubber sits nicely in the channel without being fastened by anything. its not the greatest but cost nothing and did the trick. I found 1 nice rubber grommet from a place by my work (its in the hole with the sata cables) I will prolly grab another. Posted May 30, 2014 · Original PosterOP Nice job, very clean, are you planning to buy the MPower Max Z97? Im not sure I need Z97, I really dont know how to feel about Z97 right now. I dont need m.2. sata 3 + ssd works good for me, but theres always the upgrade bug right. im waiting for devils canyon to be released and anxiously want to see if vendors update the uefi to support devils canyon. if z87 boards support devils canyon im gonna start scooping up high priced z87 boards on the cheap. Would you recommend the MPower? Seeing you've been using MSI for quite some time, it is safe to say they are stable right? I'm looking for a first build when the 4790k get released, so I don't want to cheap out on a motherboard. Plus the MPower Max comes with the WiFi add-on. ●CPU: i7-4790K w/H100i ●Mobo: MSI Z97 MPower ●RAM: Corsair 16GB Dominator ●GPU: EVGA ACX SC 780 3GB(X2) ●SSD: 850 Pro 256GB ●Case: 450D ●PSU: AX 860i ●Monitor: Asus PB278Q 1440p

I'm looking for a first build when the 4790k get released, so I don't want to cheap out on a motherboard. Plus the MPower Max comes with the WiFi add-on. I have had really good luck with mpower boards i have owned the z77 mpower as well. super solid overclocking board, solid build quality, intuitive easy to use bios. true dual bios, direct bios button, beefy heatsink design. two complaints about the z87 mpower shitty wifi antenna connectors ( the z87 mpower max ac and z97 mpower max have standard sma connections, way better) power reset button placement ( z97 mpower fixed this) Mainboard Asrock Z170 OCF CPU 6700k RAM Tridentz 3600 HDD Intel 730 240gb GPU GTX 780ti sc acx PSU Silverstone Strider 1200W Case Antec 900 Laptop Lenovo Thinkpad T520 build log- http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/35809-antec-900-the-re-birth-of-a-legend/ Check out the Tech Center https://www.youtube.com/user/prokon24/videos LTT's Unicore King
Posted May 30, 2014 Hey ProKon, Nice rework dude. Good paint job, looking to do something similar with and older rig of mine. Nice clean looks. Just a build tip, when doing the holes in the MB tray, pre drill the corners with a large drill bit. It will give you the nice rounded corners like the standard holes in the tray. 3/8" (10mm) up to 9/16 (14mm) at a low speed with not much pressure does the job nicely. Then cut the rest out with a dremel or the like. Just a tip for next time.
