So what is the difference between a 1050p monitor and a 1080p monitor is it worth upgrading from a 1050p to a 1080p and will most games adapt to run at 1050p? Thanks anyone who can help!

The monitor is 1050x1920? It's fine. If it's some weird ass resolution, it's probably still fine

EDIT: it's 1050x1680, if you can, I'd recommend upgrading. If you can't, doesn't matter that much.

1050p is a thing, its 16:10, 1680x1050.

 

I'd say go for 1080p, I have both a 1080p monitor and a 1050p monitor, the 1080p monitor is much much nicer for gaming, content creation, video playback, etc...

Your monitor is actually 1680x1050. So you'll have a harder time running a 1080p monitor, albeit not by much.

I'd upgrade just to get a more standard resolution and more pixels. More pixels are good.

1764000 pixels is 1680x1050 while 2073600 is 1920x1080 resolution. You'll probably notice a slight difference between the two resolutions in most games, but I think you should only do it if you're covered in other departments. An adequate GPU, for example.

Its not horribly important, though between the two I have enjoyed the 1080p monitor quite a bit more.

Don't forget that 1050p is 16:10, whereas 1080p is 16:9, so things like youtube videos will have black bars on the top and bottom when in fullscreen, some game cutscenes will be the same way, and overall just isn't quite as good as 1080p.

Ok thanks guys I have r9 280 and am going to get a 970 so i am covered for my gou thanks for your help and I think after I finish some more important upgrades I will upgrade to a dual moniter with one for games and use the other for normal day things

My monitor is 1050p search it online

its 1680x1050, ive had 2 and they're great super cheap because theyre not "1080p" which is all console gamers and "non-techies" understand.

yet its 1.75mp and 1080p is 2.07mp (so its85% of 1080p) so its not far off, you lose a little bit of vertical resolution (30 pixels) and a bit of side resolution (240 pixels) hence its 16:10 and not 16:9.

1080p's great however if your not good with setting up resolutions in games and dont set the aspect ratio to 16:10 getting a 1080p monitor might just be easier, is it noticably better? no.

its not like the differecne between 1080p and 1440p.
