2.1 Speaker option not available in Realtek HD Audio Manager

Choose "Stereo". Your sub is not on a separate channel, it just plays low frequency sounds that are transmitted to your stereo.

Hello,

I have a set of Logitech Z523 2.1 Speakers (which are connected via "front speaker out") and I have a Ranger VII motherboard which has supremeFX. In the SupremeFX (Realtek HD Audio manager) options, I can choose for the speaker configuration;

  • Stereo
  • Quadraphonic
  • 5.1 Speaker
  • 7.1 Speaker

Why does it not show 2.1? I have been using the 5.1 option and unchecked the "rear speakers" box in the optional speakers section. Up until now I have noticed a problem where when I'm in the Skyrim intro and directly look at someone who is speaking, they go silent. I think this is either due to the centre speaker not working (I question do I even actually have a centre speaker? I'm sure I got normal sound to come out of it rather than just bass, once but cannot replicate it) or my speaker configuration is wrong. I also have "virtual surround" on, I would prefer not to disable this.

Many thanks for the responses! :)

Stereo is what you need to use. The .1 subwoofer channel is a mix of both channels, done by the speaker system itself not the audio drivers.

Thank you very much, it works the same as my settings before :) Now to check Skyrim and also thank you for the reason why it works on stereo :) I like to know why to do something before blindly doing it :D

VLC media player explains it better than me, I just couldn't find that specific quote.
