Why has no one implemented Micro B USB3 ports?

SirReallySam

I would love this to make my mobile for example uber quick when it comes to syncing music and stuff :( I know thunderbolt is quick as well, but USB 3 is getting better and I heard rumors that soon they will be making it as quick as thunderbolt :D which would also be awesome :D would love some thoughts on this...

all micro usb is flimsy

Well, true enough, but atleast we had mini usb jacks. I don't really understand why external harddrives use micro usb 3, while there is more then enough space for a proper full size usb 3 port. (a or b)

They have them for external hard drives and they have the normal micro usb bit like you have for android phones and then an extra bit for the usb3

Thunderbolt is expensive and the list of compatible devices is a short one. Those two facts are tied together quite tightly.

Since it's expensive not many computers have it so not many devices have it so the price stays high.

I think Apple is the only company really making use of it.

More haswell boards seem to have it though, who knows maybe we'll see a change in the market.

- Silverstone Fortress FT02 - MSI Z77 Mpower - i5 3570k @ 4.0GHZ 1.09v - 8gb Mushkin Blackline 1600 - MSI GTX 670 PE -

The USB 3 controller probably takes up too much logic board space. Haswell has a whole chipset with it inbuilt. A big chipset with a heatsink is as large as some phones!

Plus, phone manufactures are cheapskates.

Aesthetics of rigs matter

Because it's not worth it !!!!!!!!

The controller is going to be more complex, everything's going to be a tad bit more expensive... and for what, writing on that 20Mb/s capped eMMC card inside your phone (applicable for the majority of devices) ??
