Want to buy a 4k monitor and can't decide between Asus PB287Q or waiting..

cthomas1489
So I've had the Asus before and loved it. Ended up having to RMA it and then ultimately just returned it as I was transitioning through hardware and didn't have the power to game on it. Well I'm about to have the power again and am wondering if I should stick with that for about $600 or wait for a new panel but I'd really only be willing to wait until about the end of the year. I will use it for coding/game programming/web dev stuff as well as gaming. Def need 60hz through DP.

Anyway, I'm not current on the rumors/leaks so is there anything good coming?

Somewhat swayed by a widescreen but I feel UHD may be more mainstream and fitting for me.

ROG swift

Given that the swift is neither widescreen (as in the LG) nor UHD nor anything I asked about... I'm gonna go with no.

Edit: My apologies for vagueness. I don't just mean widescreen (they're all widescreen I suppose haha) but rather the Ultra Wide Screen such as the LG 34UM95). If there are more of those coming out I may be interested but I feel mainstream will fall with the 28"+ 4k UHD monitors.

I agree it's gorgeous. Some games will require black bars no? I don't know if I can handle that...
