HDMI to VGA Adapter Pros and Cons

I need a HDMI to VGA adapter, I've found some at local shops, and already bought 1.

Is there any problems with this adapter?

VGA is really bad compared to HDMI, in terms of quality. That is all, really. 

 

That said, my second monitor uses VGA since that's the only connector it has. Though, my primary uses HDMI.

The problem is that you are converting a digital signal to an analog signal, therefore it has to be active. Those implementations tend to not work properly in some situations. You might be fine though.....

Because my new motherboard a Asus AT5IONT-I only has HDMI and DVI-D as video outputs, and the monitor only have VGA.

then yes, you will need an active adapter, but sadly, most of those dont work properly. it may be cheaper to get a cheap gpu that has a VGA/DVI-I output than go over loads of non working adapters

The adapter I bought is branded OEM.

The only thing is if I pick a GPU it needs to be single-slot due to my Thermaltake Element Q case.

So, my HDMI to VGA Adapter has a mini or micro USB port and a 3.5 Jack.

The 3.5 Jack is for Audio Output from the HDMI signal.

But what for is the mini/micro USB?
