Ryzen 5 1600 + Asrock X370M Pro 4 still relevant right now?

I got deals ryzen 5 1600 and AsRock X370m Pro 4 about $151...

For 2020 its worth it or not and what about performance...

Or Should i go for 3000 series instead??

I mean itll cost another 100$ for a 3600 and board. 151 is fairly decent but I'd be unsure about future upgradability. I doubt AMD will keep B350/x370 around for much longer

X370 is dead in the water, and the 1st gen Ryzens weren't great chips - better than the Athlons, but still not great. That said, for $151, you're not going to get anything better. Jumping up to a 3600 is going to double the price with a board like a B450 in tow (3600s are running more expensive these days due to demand and 7nm supply). It won't necessarily put you in a better upgrade position, either, though the performance will be exponentially better.

Buy the 1600 and x370. Their resell value will always be there when you want to make a jump to a new mobo/cpu/ and GPU.

AMD confirmed that they won't support Zen 3 on B350/X370.

The 1600 is not competitive with current and last gen CPUs.

Better than Which Athlon?

I thought Ryzen Athlon was 1st gen...
