I just noticed that this 290x card is only $599, That's only 50 dollars above the original launch price if my memory is correct, not a bad deal.

Most of the cards are still $650 or higher. The ones you posted are brands I probably wouldn't buy from.

Are reference cards and coolers seriously that bad? Honest question I have no idea.

Reference coolers are typically not great for cooling.

Cards that are exceptionally hot,or have exceptionally bad stock coolers,like the GTX 480 and R9 290(X),get very toasty with the reference cooler when under load (95C+). [yes there are others,I'm just listing off the ones people hate on the most]

powercolor isn't bad.

And HIS is about on par with gigabyte,pny,and zotac.Don't know why you wouldn't buy from them.
