Is the difference between the two the height ?

Partially. The width is also larger on the D15.

The D15 comes with 2x 140mm fans, while the D14 comes with 1x140mm and 1x120mm.

D14 (with fan) height: 160mm

D15(with fan) height: 165mm

My case says it has a clearance of 165mm. Is this too close for the NH-D15?

Should be enough. The H510 also mentions 165mm of clearance and fits the D15 fine.

I suppose that if it says it fit LGA 1151 it also fits LGA 1200, right?

Yup.

The heatsink mounting on Intel's new LGA1200 platform (code name Comet Lake S, Z490 chipset) is identical to all LGA115x sockets (LGA1150, LGA1151, LGA1155, LGA1156). Therefore, all Noctua CPU coolers that support LGA115x also support LGA1200 and don't require any mountig updates.

yes, they did misspell 'mounting' on their website' 🤔

Hi,

I am planning to get a i5-10600K with either NH-D15 or D14. Is the difference between the two the height ? My case says it has a clearance of 165mm. Is this too close for the NH-D15? I suppose that if it says it fit LGA 1151 it also fits LGA 1200, right?
