Fallen jedi order poor performance 1440p ultrawide

I just purchased Jedi Fallen order and have encountered some fairy serious performance issues using the rig in my signature.

 

So @1440p ultrawide, I am getting 40-80fps on epic. The odd thing is that even if I lower the resolution, I get the same performance. If I drop the settings from epic to say medium, I only gain about 5 fps. Is this simply an issue with some parts of the game? Why are my settings not taking?

Check what is bottlenecking it, it seems like a CPU bottleneck instead of a GPU bottleneck.

It’s not a light game to run. 1440p ultra wide is pretty near 4K. The game scales amazing with non native resolutions. I played it at 1440p on my 4K display when I wasn’t on my 1440p ultra wide. I’d suggest trying 2560x1080.

When I check my utilization on epic, my 3950x is % max and my gpu is at 60% max. I'm going to restart my machine and test some things out. It is an odd issue i've only encountered in this game.

Usually dropping resolution takes strain off the GPU, so it is probably a different bottleneck.

Just a lot easier to send a screenshot of metrics. This is what is going on while there is some action happening in game.

Regardless of what I set in the in-game settings, my performance does not change. DRS is off currently. I've even dropped it to 1080p and I still get the same fps. So at my resolution 3440x1440 I have the game on low everything. If I crank it to epic, I lose maybe 3-5 frame at best. Something is just off with this game. I have no clue where to even attack this problem as this is the only game with that issue

 

From what i've been searching online, i'm not the only one to encounter this bug. I just don't know what is causing it.

From what i've been searching online, i'm not the only one to encounter this bug. I just don't know what is causing it.

I was running it 60 nearly maxed out on a 2060S at 1440p. Maybe it just doesn’t like ultra wide some games don’t

Thats what I thought too. The thing is that even when I set it to 1080p the performance does not change in the slightest. For some reason my settings are not actually being changed despite the options showing that they are changed.

Maybe forcing the changes through the ini (if I could find it) or forcing it through nvidia control panel would change it?

So I decided to take a look at the GameUserSetting.ini file and it looks like none of my graphic settings were changing.

Uninstall and reinstall? Is the origin or steam?

Updated all drivers etc? I haven’t had an issue but I finished the game about a month from launch

Drivers are all up to date. I may just reinstall everything just in case. Maybe there is a hiccup that occurred somewhere

So I ran DDU and reinstalled the nvidia drivers. Reinstalled the game on my nvme drive. Launched the game and it ran at about 60 fps on epic at 3440x1440, I closed it and ran the game again and the game dropped back to the 40s. I think there is something busted with the game.

I bought it when it went on sale. I actually figured out what the issue was for the most part. It was a combination of acronis and malware bytes flagging the game. Disabled their active protection and performance skyrocketed. What an annoying issue haha

I use windows defender, but I forgot that malware bytes and some other software I had have their own active protection stuff which I swore up and down I had disabled
