Ryzen 7 3700x are only $259 right now. What's the CHEAPEST PCIE4 motherboard I should consider

$259 Ryzen 7 3700x

https://www.amazon.com/AMD-Ryzen-3700X-16-Thread-Processor/dp/B07SXMZLPK/ref=sr_1_7?dchild=1&keywords=ryzen+5+3600&qid=1594736264&sr=8-7

If planning to run at stock or PBO only.

I know the motherboard tier list is there, but just looking for some anecdotal commentary on the cheapest PCIE4 motherboard that can work with this CPU for mostly gaming with possibly some light encoding.

Thanks

Going for that IPC loss to a thread count bump while Zen 3 is just around that corner??

I suggest nothing at this time. But a nice B550 or X570 if possible.

Not sure what the 600 chipsets will look like....

Hey, thanks for the recommendation. I should have noted that I was looking for a PCIE4 motherboard. So, B550 or X570.

I know a lot of recommendation is the ASUS X570 TUF GAMING, which my friend uses and I've recommended because of this, but I was curious about the much cheaper X570 boards that are also available.

For example:

https://www.amazon.com/Asus-Prime-X570-P-Ryzen-Motherboard/dp/B07SW925DR/ref=sr_1_8?dchild=1&keywords=x570+motherboard&qid=1594736992&sr=8-8

Which is only $159

I mean, it's really a hard sell for the i7-10700k at $410 plus an $80 cooler ($500)

When you can just get this for $259. It's......wow.

I wonder if a 3700X is a little over kl on the old HTPC, but I can't talk like that while running a 2700X for the same thing!

I'd do the TUF maybe. Decent board. I've been on an ROG kick myself.

I mean, PCIe 4.0 won't really impact performance, so you should definitely consider B450 instead.

but for B550:

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/39LwrH/gigabyte-b550m-aorus-pro-micro-atx-am4-motherboard-b550m-aorus-pro

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

It's not really a rational metric. Just.....want it to have it. Kind of like the heated seats that I never have used once.

I am forced to agree with this, despite me generally liking the mid-higher end Gigabyte motherboards a lot. The B450 Aorus M my 1600 on is certifiably dogshit.

The aorus pro is a great board. Their b550 boards are basically one of the better choices.

it was really only the BIOS that was shit. The VRM on this board is all there, for good CPU performance. Plus, Gigabyte recently did a massive BIOS overhaul.

Other than the DS3H, mATX Elite and arguably mATX Pro as well, they're really quite solid.

I'd pick either of those over any MSI though. Just my preference.

The DS3H was the mostly purchased board because of pricing.

You see how difficult it is to get a nice expensive board when a lot of budget is wiped on a CPU....

I don't remember any fanfare about it really, I just updated the bios on a B450 board and everything looked different.

Unfortunately I did not have the time to check if the vcore settings were improved, so @Mister Woof let me know if the CPU settings are any good.
