R7 3700X with B450 Aorus Elite?

I've heard everywhere that Gigabyte mobos are the worst in B450 Chipsets and r7 3700x won't go well with the B450 Aorus Elite, So I wanted to know how much capable is B450 Aorus Elite for R7 3700X with only PBO Enabled and no manual overclocking, To be honest VRMs are the only thing I am concerned about with this Mobo.

If you already have the motherboard, then I'd suggest running the 3700X without turning PBO on.

If you don't already have the motherboard, then I'd suggest looking for a different one (B450-A Pro Max from MSI, for example).

The VRMs on it aren't great, normally I wouldn't run more than a stock 3600 in it, personally. It should work with the 3700X, but I really wouldn't suggest overclocking with it.

it won't allow it to boost properly. so it will run close to base clock most of the time.

So with only PBO Enabled on r7 3700x Would VRM Temps go crazy with this Mobo?

even without PBO enabled the vrm temps will go crazy and it won't allow it to boost properly

Fuck Gigabyte Why did they even manufacture such trash. 😠

b450 boards were released with 2000 series ryzen to take low-mid end cpus like the 2200g, 2400g and max 2600. they had no idea at the time that amd will release a 3700x or a 3900x or whatever and the board was not designed for them. you can't expect top performance from a budget board targeted for a budget pc.

Can a 240 mm radiator on top hamper the heat dissipation of VRM section?

Because "technically" you're using a previous generation's chip set with a current generations CPU.  There wasn't a need to build such a beefy VRM section when the B450 chipset came out.  AMD did a pretty cool thing by sticking with the same AM4 socket for THREE series of CPU (Ryzen 1000, 2000, and now 3000) to give their customers an easy upgrade path.  On one hand that's a very cool thing to do because you don't NEED to buy a new motherboard if you want to upgrade from a 1000 series to a 3000 series Ryzen chip, but the other side to that coin is that motherboard manufacturers, like Gigabyte, had no way of knowing what the 3000 series CPUs were going to need years before they were released, and they had to fill the need of their consumers at the time.

Just run a 3700x in it with PBO enabled. It'll be fine.

If you are super worried just throw a fan on the VRMs. Problem solved.

Some people get too worried about VRM temperatures. A 3700x is only a 95 watt chip it's really not any more power hungry than a 2700x or 1800x.

Fans off or at 5% and below 50c with all cores and threads loaded with an overvolt.

Under Prime 95 only reaching 53c maximum.

According to It I can use a r7 3700x OC'd but with minor airflow what does that mean?

In my case there will be two 200mm Intake fans installed on the front and 1 fan at the exhaust and a 240 mm radiator with 2 120mm fans installed in pull configuration on the top of the chasis does this much count as minor airflow?

Seems fine with r5 2600x can I expect similar temps with r7 3700x as It's only a 65W TDP one?
