plz help with new SSD

Lewi Shamilton

Hello, I have recently purchased an Intel 660p Series M.2 2280. like a dumdum, I just thought I could clone my current SSD to the new one. after doing that, I cannot seem to get my computer to boot.

What I'd like to do now is to completely restore the new Intel ssd to a new, unpartitioned status with no data on it. Then I will just start with a fresh install of windows. How would you recommend I do that?

Thanks for any help.

You can install as it is, whatever installation was cloned will be moved to windows.old folder automatically

ah yes. I forgot to mention. I tried with a windows installer thumb drive to just install windows over everything but it said that none of the partitions that were created were able to have windows installed on them. it was pretty strange since I just figured the windows installation software would just overwrite and do what it needed to in order to work it out.

When you go for a new format, in the beginning where the drives are shown chose format (delete everything else, partition ect...)and continue as normal install

What the post above said. In the installer when you get to choose the drive to install to you delete all partitions and select the free space.

Disconnect all other drives than the one you want to install to before starting.

Maybe there is not enough free space? If you cloned from full, but smaller drive, new one might have unpartitioned space left...so you can either create new partition or format the whole drive...

Enter command prompt,

diskpart

list disk

select disk number

create partition primary size=numberinmegabytes
