Intel Core i7 8700 Processor and ASRock H310CM HDV M.2 Motherboard compatibility.

Hi, I am trying to build a Gaming PC and I was wondering if the Intel Core i7 8700(https://www.pccasegear.com/products/40529/intel-core-i7-8700-processor) and the ASRock H310CM HDV M.2(https://www.pccasegear.com/products/44885?gclid=CjwKCAiA58fvBRAzEiwAQW-hzfEZHb1QeYud4nNLCINh44_x33p6K-fHmjWXL8vI2jSf0DyxAUxMBBoCVRcQAvD_BwE) are compatible. The Intel Core i7 8700 has up to 1x16 PCI-E and my motherboard has 1 x PCI-E 3.0 x16 Slot and 2 x PCI-E 2.0 x1 Slots. And if their not compatible could someone point me to a cheap alternative motherboard that is mATX. Thanks in advance

H310 and H310C motherboards are all compatible with the 8700

Although cheaping out too much on the motherboard can impact CPU performance

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

i would personally grab the cheapest z370/90 you can get. it will allow you to use faster memory and is much less likely to throttle

Sorry I'm new to this what is a z370/90

Z370 or z390 chipsets allow for overclocking both CPU and RAM.

B365, B360, H370, and H310 do not support overclocking and will run ram at Intel spec, which for the 8700 is 2666mhz.

Although you won't be able to multiplier overclock the 8700, you can use ram that is faster than 2666 which will benefit your performance. 3200-3600 are common.

It's typically as simple as clicking XMP profile and done.
