help w/build 1.5k budget (amd/or intel)

CaptNick

Looking for some help with a build. I not up to date on whats best, ive heard good things about amd's new chips but in the past ive only used intel. Looking to keep this around 1500 or under. Not a heavy gamer but would like to play some COD or Battlefield, i also would like to use for a flight sim as well. Can someone point me towards the best bang for the buck with a $1500 budget? It doesnt have to be flashy but i do like a nice clean build.

this is what ive play around with so far: should not i have some backup storage options already avail to me (2tb 3.5in, two 500gb ssd, several 1tb drives) still want a m2 for the new build for quick boots

I'd get a better cooler, get something like an EX950 for the SSD, drop the PSU to 550w...other than that you can't really save any money anywhere without going with something like a 3600.

Between the stock cooler and that one keep the stock

Case is an oven, you can get something better with that budget

850W is overkill unless you're planning to do SLI which is not worth, go for 650W

Case isn't that bad, and it's better than the middle of the pack in Gamers Nexus testing.

Awesome. That 550w psu won’t be maxed out? Is that brand any good?

https://www.anandtech.com/show/14663/the-nvidia-geforce-rtx-2080-super-review/15 9900k + 2080 and it only ate 324w under a stress test.

ok changes a few things up, i think i want to go down on the gpu and up on the cpu - can someone show me the best picks with this setup?

i don't think your use case will benefit from the 3900x. the best option is still a 3700x, which I kept in the build below. if you insist on the 3900x, just replace it in the build below. the rest will work and is the best value for money.

Appprecaited. I’m not sold on the case or anything it was just a quick pick. Any recommendations. I’m thinking of staying with the 3900x

yes, it's in tier A, you can overclock a 3950x to the max on it

Tier A 200A current draw on little ambient airflow, maxed out 3950X on ambient cooling, 2700x on LN2

Bear with me since I’m not well versed....if I wanted to go with a b450 mobo so save $$, what would you all recommend?. Im thinking I won’t need pci 4.0, two m.2’s or 2-10gbit usb that a 570 offers. But I’d rather have a more name brand m.2 ssd

I do however want to have flashback on the b450 to be able to easily update bios for the 3900X ryzen (I think that’s possible) without having to buy a separate chip/loaner to update bios.

would this be beneficial over just getting a 570 mobo?

I wouldn't go for a b450 with a 3900x. You're much better off with the x570 I recommended. And the silicone power A80 ssd is very good quality, look up some reviews of it.
