be quiet! Dark Rock Tf and B450M DS3H

Guest

Looking at the website of "be quiet!" there are warnings that the B450M DS3H motherboard may have ram clearance issues with the be quiet! Dark Rock Tf (https://www.amazon.com/quiet-Dark-Rock-BK020-Cooler/dp/B00XJMQDUM)
Only using two ram sticks and they are in the light grey slots for dual channel. I was wondering if maybe, just maybe this cooler would fit since the last ram slot is empty?

Computer Specs;

it might interfere with the ram slot due to the fan since your ram looks quite tall.. if you remove the fans under the heatsink and stick with 1 fan, you will not have any ram clearance issue. but at most lit looks like it can fit any Low profile ram

I dont know if turning it around will help but if you do, it might hit the back panel of the case, facing it down wards ,may be okay though but it might hit the GPU.

Im with the mentaility of "IF IM NOT SURE IF ITS ENOUGH COOLING, GO OVERKILL"

It should fit fine if you're not using the closest slot. You can see a the cooler on a similar motherboard over Vengeance Pro RGB which is taller: https://pcpartpicker.com/b/DJLJ7P

the B450M Steel Legend might have the ram slots slightly farther away from the socket though.

Is there any reason you're looking at this cooler in particular as opposed to one that won't block any ram slots?

Do you think removing one of the fans would effect temperatures bad enough during gaming and compiling that makes it not worth buying for this current setup?

Honestly I love the look of the heat sink, and since black Friday and cyber monday are coming up hoping to find it on sale. The stock heat sink on the Ryzen 5 2600 sometimes hits 80c when playing games like metro exodus.

80c isn't low but it's still perfectly safe. What are temps with a synthetic load like OCCT?

Even without a second fan, it'll still perform very well and much better than the stock cooler.

What part of the heatsink do you like the look of? If you just want something black, there are probably plenty of similar if not cheaper alternatives.

After doing a stress test with OCCT the results where 60c at full load on the CPU for about 3 minutes. This must mean most of the of the heat is coming from the GPU during gaming since the xfx radeon r9 390 black edition oc  is known to run pretty hot, sometimes even up to 90c and the fans are limited to 40 percent usage on the gpu from the factory do to noise.  I like the whole top down look  beffy cpu cooler and the two fans. The black color is defiantly a bonus.

EDIT:

do you think the Cooler Master Hyper 212 RGB Black Edition 57.3 CFM CPU Cooler would be just as good in cooling and be better for fitment?

Never mind. Decided to go with the NOCTUA NH-U12S chromax.Black, 120mm! Site says its a perfect fit for the case and motherboard. Just curious, and no big deal if I cant, but is it good for overclocking?

Yes, for some. How much still depends on chip itself.

Sure, it's great. There are usually better coolers for the price though.

You mentioned getting some RF120's in another thread. You could just get a matching Neptwin RGB instead: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/VmMwrH/deepcool-neptwin-rgb-565-cfm-cpu-cooler-neptwin-rgb
