M.2 SSD advice

Stilg7

Between the 500GB Samsung 970 and 970 Plus, would it be worth the $20 difference in price for the latter?

The Samsung 970 isn't worth it regardless which of the many variations, where are you from?

Intel, Crucial, Sabrent, HP all have extremely better value alternatives.

the Plus is newer but they're very similar, so feel free to go for the cheaper option. Also look at pricing for WD Black, Seagate Firecuda 510, Corsair MP510 and Intel 660p

What are you using your PC for? I would just buy the cheapest m.2 I could find in the wanted size unless you really need the extra performance

Mostly 1440p 144hz gaming. May I ask what the extra performance would entail? That way I can have a better understanding if I would get use out of it.

Oh then it will be easy to find a good solution for you.

How much do you want to spend on? should we focus performance/reliability or raw storage quantity?

Extra performance would mean faster read and writes for file transfers but that is mostly for content creators such as editors that need faster speeds. For gaming just get the cheapest one you can find, the difference will be a few seconds while loading maps or levels

Well the Samsungs were priced at $80 for the 970 and $90 for the 970+

I would probably say go with more performance/reliability in mind. Storage anywhere between 500GB-1TB, is plenty for me.

You can have double the capacity to 1TB with the 660p for the same pricepoint:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GCL6BR4/?tag=pcpapi-20

Or you can pay 30 dollars less for the same performance and reliability with the Sabrent Rocket at the same 500GB capacity:

It's up to you from here [:

I bought this, Inland M.2 NVME PCIe 1TB SSD and I have been very well pleased with performance. On crystal disk mark, I got a 3469.5MB/s read and 3041.2MB/s write, that's not too bad for a $107.00 SSD. It has gone up in price but it is still a very good alternative for a 1TB SSD.

Hope this helps. I forgot to mention, if there is a Micro Center around you, the price will be a bit better for in store price.
