Swollen Dell XPS battery, should I remove it? Out of warranty support?

Chunchunmaru_

I own an XPS 15 9550, that after 2 years the battery only lose the 22% of the capacity, but the real issue here is that it become suddenly swollen.
It's a known defect, and a friend of mine who got the same model got his battery replaced out of warranty.
This is what it should look like in a normal state

Do you know if they still replace those batteries for free?

But first another question, I immediately removed this battery and put it out my home, I don't want it to blow, do I need to worry anyway? Should I put it back? It still works, after all.

Don't put it back, dispose of it in the correct containers.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

1st priority is to properly dispose of that thing ASAP. Worry about the warranty bit after. Property damage (or injury) from a lithium fire is a lot more pricy than paying out for an out-of-warranty battery replacement.

Ok so I basically completely discharged it to 0% first, now I'll wait for a Dell answer from facebook

It won't blow unless you puncture it.

Just get it off and replace it, no need to panic.
