rtx 2060 with 500w psu

I have a 500w psu, my system currently has a gtx 1660 but I wanted to upgrade to a gigabyte rtx 2070 , should thus work, for the 2070 they say the minimum is 550w and I want to know if could run it, and my system doesn’t have too many flashy rgb light , like one strip that I barely turn on if that helps, but this is my first pc and wanted to know, and I have $400 at the moment, any other good gpu suggestions

it'll work as long as your PSU doesn't suck. Which model(not just the brand name or efficiency) is it?

What are your full system specs, and what brand and model is the PSU?

Overhead for the future is never a mistake and PSUs cost near to nothing

yeah... as long as you use bq, that one is much more accurate than seasonic/outervision

please, read into psus, because what you're saying is full of misconceptions that mostly have been disproven

 

heck, most cheaper high wattage units are a waste of money, or even dangerous

i never said you should buy cheap power supplies 

compared to total system cost the power supply is always cheap so just buy a higher wattage one so you dont have to exchange it in the future

Also EVERY Power Supply will be more silent on 50% load than on 100%

To answer his original post, yeah it will run it, but for how long is the question, why risk a 400$ plus investment on an 70$ fix. Spend the extra money and get a good one, and I'm on board with going bigger than you need by a few watts for head room. Imo.
