Installed a GPU and now ethernet connection wont work.

Jimsterr

I installed a GTX 980 Ti today and after turning on the PC, I was only able to use my wifi. I've tried installing the Intel Gigabit Ethernet drivers from my motherboard support and through Intel's website and they both do not work. I will link the picture of the error that I get.

I've also checked my Network Adapters through device manager and only seem to have drivers from my wifi card. I also do not have any "other devices" that are listed through device managers that could be the ethernet drivers. I figured that I could have maybe not uninstalled my previous gpu drivers successfully and it somehow interfered and caused this mess so I decided to wipe all my files on my SSD and I still can't seem to connect through ethernet.

Specs

Mobo: Asus Maximus Hero Vii

Cpu: i7 4770K

Gpu: Gtx 980 Ti

Ram: 8 gb

PSU: Corsair 760W

SSD: Evo 860

Edit* After wiping my SSD and installing new drivers I ran into a problem downloading the chipset drivers. I will post a picture of the error but upon doing that I decided to just use the motherboard cd and install it from there and it did seem to work and shows me that my chipset is updated. At this point I'm just completely confused and have no idea how could this happen as I've always had my ethernet working with my gtx 1050 ti but upon switching to a gtx 980 ti today it somehow got completely rid of my Intel Ethernet drivers.

Make a bootable Linux USB-stick (download latest Ubuntu, use Rufus to make a USB-stick out of it) and check if ethernet works there. If it does, you know it's a Windows-issue. If it doesn't, you've likely somehow managed to damage your motherboard.

Unplug and replug the Ethernet cable.

It happened to me one time.

Yeah I've tried that multiple times. I still get the yellow light that turns on when plugged in.
