Ashley MLP Fangirl

i have a weird problem.

that is my taskbar. it's this horrible grey mess that clashes with my wallpaper. i want the old black taskbar back.

these are my settings:

i would assume that to be correct.

Turn off transparency effects, that should fix it.

it's not the same. it's still grey, not black, and the wallpaper doesn't show through like it did on 1809.

It'll be this option here to make the taskbar black.

i have blue as my accent color. even if i set it to pitch black and check that box it looks exactly the same.

Yea, Windows task bar is dark gray, not black.

This follows the Fluent Design Microsoft is going towards at snail paste.

It is no longer black.

I encountered a tool in the past which removes the task bar background from being visible, it does this by injecting code in Explorer.exe or DWM.exe, but because it does this, it fights with redraw calls, so it flickers here and there when you do things on your system, or maximize/restore windows and such, it was very annoying.

so you can't have a black wallpaper anymore? because it will look stupid? good on ya microsoft...

goddammit.

guess that's goodbye to minimalist wallpapers because my desktop will look like this if i use one.

  • 1 year later...

I know it has literally been 2 years and I can see that you switched away from windows, but there is this really neat and free app on the Microsoft Strore called "TranslucentTB". It lets you set the taskbar to different designs like clear, blur, fluent and, most importantly, opaque, which is set to black by default. It also lets you adjust AeroPeek visbility and allows for complete customization on what backround effect is used where. That means that you could, for example, set it to trasparent when on the desktop and opaque black in everything else.
