Game constantly freezes while playing

AuXDubz

Hello,

So over the last few days i have been attempting to diagnose a problem with a friend of mine's PC. Here is the problem from his own words:

"I'm currently using windows 7, i have a problem were as I am playing/running games i get a short game freezes were my FPS goes down to 0. This occurs every 30-60 seconds - this problem does not happen when not playing and happens for all games."

So firstly what i did to try and fix his problem was to reinstall his video drivers to the latest Nvidia GeForce drivers that situated his GTX 650..I'm never very good at troubleshooting problems what other steps should i try then?

Thanks

- Sam

Have you tried wiping it, and reloading the OS?

If reinstalling your OS/Drivers doesn't fix it, you might have a major issue.

My brother had an Alienware laptop that froze like you described, we tried every bit of software reinstalling we could, but it never fixed it.

We even replaced his motherboard, and his graphics card. Still has the issue.

To date have you managed to diagnose the problem?

We've taken it to professionals, waited for new drivers, and still nothing.

We tried to get ours RMA'ed, but were unsuccessful, we just use it for internet now.

I know that's not helpful, but just a word of warning.

I had the same problem with a laptop a few years ago. As soon as I played any game there would be freezing every few seconds, like you described. Replacing the laptop battery solved this problem.

I have also read many other forum posts where others have had the same problem with desktops. Replacing the power supply solved their problem. Perhaps you could find a different power supply to test this out.
