Top of the line ram for 9900k / 2080ti / MSI godlike?

In terms of performance for that $100 though, how significant do you think it is? 5%, 10%, greater?

Go 3200mhz kit of color you like or a brand you trust 2 x 16gb and your set for a long time and will be plenty happy just turn on XMP in the bios after installation ;)

Someone correct me if I'm wrong..

You posted 4266mhz with c19 timing.

 19/4266*1000 = 4.454ms

16/3600*1000 = 4.444ms

Looks like the 3600mhz set is faster..

There's other factors involved and latency isn't always the most important thing.. and I could be wrong with calculating, but I can tell you with certainty, I wouldn't spend an extra hundred on the other set..

@nick name??

It seems that most of the RGB sets aren't even supported by my motherboard -_____________-

I would still get it. QVL is just the safe zone. Most RAM is universally compatible.. I wouldn't even stress it..

BTW, I have the same waterblock.  It is stuper nice.  If you want the matching backplate, I am pretty sure it is still not in stock in the states.  You'll have to order it from UK and it took mine ~10 days to get here.

@OG_Mega

It's a warning, the fact RGB is not supported by them, it's a warning to not buy RGB, do not let yourself convinced by that marketing useless, pricy, attractive hardware.

Cheers :)

Did you buy new or used ?

If new, really like how tf they expect you to install it -_- Do they even tell it when you buy at least or something

Not really the case when you start playing with the super fast stuff.  I have a set of 4400 CL18 that won't post with XMP setting on my z390 Dark...and that is about the best board for memory overclocking you can buy.  That same set is 24hr Prime95 stable at 4200 17-17-17-37.

It will probably work, but if it doesn't be prepared to dable a little into memory overclocking.  If your not cool with that I would suggest something 4000MHz or less.

I bought it new.  It comes with studs you can mount it with, but this makes things a little stiffer and seems to produce a more consistent mount.

Holy shit you scared me for a minute, I thought you meant the hydro copper backplate! Not the heatkiller IV backplate hahahahahhaa! TYSM though for checking, yeah I have that coming on the way with the heatkiller IV :D

In terms of what @gbergeron said about installing the back plate ... is there something crazy that needs to happen? I figured it would be pretty plug and play, but I haven't really looked into it

I would just return them in that case.. But I was talking about the 3600 c16 set.. I don't see a point in spending $100+ for faster RAM that doesn't offer any preformance increase.. The 3600 kit should overclock well any how since its a great b die kit..

If I go 16gb (for now) – would I be best off with these? https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820232497

They're also Samsung B-die.

Edit: PS: I also have 16gb of these on hand: G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) Desktop Memory Model F4-3200C16Q-16GVKB However, they're only 4gb Samsung B-die chips

I'd recommend the 4133CL19 kit that is linked on that page before the 4266CL19 kit you linked directly.  It's slightly slower, but it runs at 1.35V instead of 1.4V and if 133MHz is gonna cost you .05V then that doesn't seem like the best trade-off.  Also, if you're buying memory on Newegg then always buy from Newegg.  Other vendors on Newegg always seem to have ridiculous prices for RAM.

I'd also suggest you look at this thread:

https://www.overclock.net/forum/5-intel-cpus/1569364-official-intel-ddr4-24-7-memory-stability-thread.html

See what kits those guys are running and what they're able to do with 'em.

Heatkiller is super easy.  Idiot proof for the most part.

The Hydrocopper install is more involved.  Go slow, follow the instructions, be careful, use common sense, and ask questions on the EVGA forums if in doubt.  It is an expensive card.  I would buy one with the block installed if it was me today, but they were not out when I got my card.

DDR4 does not even begin to sweat until over 1.5v.  That should be a 100% non factor.

Yeah I looked all over for the combo kit but it's nowhere to be found ... I had to get the card from amazon and the kit from EVGA directly ?

I disagree.  Most silicon is graded by how fast it can run at a particular voltage and the faster and lower the better.  And I'm not sure you're gonna wanna daily your RAM much above 1.5V.  The RAM modules may survive, but the controller might not.

Have an example?

Also found these: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820232728 – are compatible with the motherboard and pretty cheap from the looks of it? I can get 32gb for just about $260 USD.

Are the DDR4 3600 CL18's not regarded as a good chip, or? Why are they so cheap compared to other options.

EDIT: This set isn't compatible with the motherboard, and I'd really prefer to avoid that headache if at all possible

I think those might be my best bet? I was looking for something with RGB, trying to stay under $400 total (was trying to squeeze out 32GB, but maybe high speed 16gb is good enough?)

It's a PITA going down that list and copy/pasting codes to see if they're the chips I'm looking for, but I really don't want to deal with the headache of trying to overclock something not compatible that could maybe give me an issue

Everyone will respond with what a terrible value that kit is, and they are right.  But, if you want highend ram for whatever reason, that is a nice kit.
