No my friend.  g-sync pay-sync call it what you want is no longer needed.   With 10xx and 20xx cards nvidia has freesync and freesync 2 support for monitors that have it.

i still dont get it

G-Sync is Nvidia's proprietary take on adaptive refresh rates.  Requires a special module in the monitor to function, which leads to extra cost.

With a recent driver release Nvidia has now added support to their driver packages (for 10xx and 20xx series cards only) for Freesync.  Freesync is the open-source version of adaptive sync technology which does not require any additional hardware in the monitor.  This means you can use less expensive versions of a monitor to get the adaptive sync benefits.

You can still buy G-sync monitors and they will work perfectly.  You just have more options now.
