My monitor has a double image effect

I have the lg 34uc79gb freesync monitor. The issue on persists if I use freesync. Im on driver 417.71. The issue is that the screen has a double image effect whenever playing games. The issue is easily fixed by turning the monitor off and on again. The latest drivers, for some reason, break the fix. Anyone else have a similar issue?
