Hi Everyone,

I was told to post something here as there might be someone that could point me in the right direction.

I'm looking for a light laptop, preferably under 5 lbs, with a 15 inch display that can withstand a Saharan dust storm and a few hard bumps along the way. The graphics card would have to be good enough to run some "video editing" or " decent gaming".

The problems I have had with current laptops that I have tried are:

-Tooooooo hooooottttt, like can't keep on your lap hot,

-Can't take the heat "115 degrees Fahrenheit"

-Too heavy

- way took loud when working hard

- graphics processing sucks.

-dont ask me to use Apple....not gonna happen.

Price is not really a problem.

Any input would be really appreciated!

115F is rather low for laptop thermals, I think you are looking for a unicorn tbh, the moment you throw in decent gaming or video editing all the sudden you need a GPU and not a ultrabook CPU, which increases weight, thermals and noise.

Well a macbook would hardly fit your use case, whey're not known for being rugged and they're pretty hot on the lap (and hands)

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k (won) - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Kill Trident Z RGB - Force MP500 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - The venerated Hyper 212 Evo (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G2 650W - Black and green theme, Razer branwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

Linux Proliant ML150 G6:

Xeon X5560 - 24GB ECC DDR3 - Asus DirectCU GTX 760 - old Seagate 1.5TB HDD - Dark moded Ubuntu (and Win7, cuz why not)

It would have to be as light as possible and the battery life of at least 4 hours.

It's for traveling to West Africa I would say.

The only thing that really has that kind of durability is a Panasonic toughbook or the getac rugged laptops, but they aren't light and aren't cheap and you aren't really going to game on either.

I'm not entirely sure of your questions.

Are you asking what is my Max weight for the laptop that I want? If so then as light as possible, 5 lbs max

Online store? Not sure what you are asking here.

He's asking for online stores that sell laptops in your area so that he can see what is available.

If you weren't being sarcastic about the dust storms what you want doesnt really exist.

Thinkpad T580 / P52s

Thinkpad P52 if you don't mind the extra weight

Thinkpad P1 / X1 Extreme if you don't mind more powerful components but weak cooling

Other options to consider as well: Precision 7530, Zbook 15 G5, ZBook 14u G5, HP ZBook Studio x360 G5

More powerful GPU = Runs hotter = Loud fan noise = Usually requires thicker / bigger chassis to cool. You can't get everything together
