Thank you.  As far as my hunting on Google goes, I guess my friend might have to go a little over his budget.  Huh? :(

Yeah, most likely. The X99 platform falls under Intel's HEDT (High End DeskTop) category, and the HEDT stuff tends to be more expensive. Make sure you take look on eBay and other used sellers because old HEDT owners are selling their X99 stuff.

Greetings!

A friend of mine is looking to get a new motherboard that will be compatible with his Intel i7 5820k 3.3 GHz 6-Core processor.  He is on a budget, so anything up to $130 would be his maximum budget.

TIA!

Have you got access to eBay? It's a good place to get last gen motherboards.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

He recently bought a board from some guy on eBay, and I think the part is defected.  He's been trying to get in contact with the guy but no luck yet.

EDIT: It was a MSI X99A Plus ATX LGA2011

2011-v3 which is for Haswell-E (OP's cpu) and Broadwell-E

2011 would be for something like a 3930K or 4920K. Sandy or Ivy

Thanks for confirming. I was having just a little bit of trouble remembering, but my brother's X99 Strix being 2011 V3 usually helps me recall.
