Uncle's New Streaming PC

PC Parts

https://pcpartpicker.com/user/1nvasi0n/saved/zc8NQ7

So my uncle wants to build "a crazy good streaming PC that can play any game maxed out" on a 1080p 144hz monitor. This is what I put together so far, but I'm still kinda new to PC building, especially for streaming. Also the WiFi card is in there on purpose because my uncle can't/ won't get Ethernet in the room he wants the computer. There isn't really a set budget but keeping it around $2,500 or less would probably be good. My uncle also wants the pc to look good with a black and rgb color scheme. Thanks!

If that budget is within what he is looking to spend, I would swap the 8700 out for a 9900k, and go down to 16 GB of RAM. There are no games that need more than 16 GB. That said, the 8700 is fine.... Maybe taking the money saved on the RAM and getting a RTX 2080 would be a better option as the 8700 will suffice, its quite a good CPU. You could always get the 8700k and overclock it, I have one running at 5 GHz on all cores; it was very simple to OC, easier than my 6700k in my sig was actually.... Although both were pretty simple.

But, seeing as its for someone else, sometimes overclocking can be less desirable; its just more to go wrong. You can save a few bucks on the motherboard and the CPU cooler, and get 16 GB of RAM, and take that savings and get a RTX 2080, I think that would be your best bet and most value added option.

A good heatsink to get is a Hyper 212 Evo. Its an older design, it isn't phenomenal (it used to be the bargain cooler of the century), but its cooling my 8700k @ 5ghz at sub 75c under full synthetic load, and its only 25 bucks..... Also, 3000 MHz RAM is fine, if you can save a few bucks there that is a great option.

The 8700k is 60 bucks more, so unless you plan to overclock I am not sure that is worthwhile... But, it could be a great option down the line if the CPU starts to be a little slow for AAA titles 4 years down the line...

I should add, not a bad build for bring new! The PSU is a touch overkill, but that is never a bad thing especially if budget allows, as I said the motherboard could be a little cheaper, but that is a fine option especially if you want to overclock, and the 3 corsair fans for 90 bucks are basically not needed. That said, RGB is RGB, and if that is the desired goal that is totally fine, but cooling should be fine without them, maybe with just an additional fan in the top of the case giving you two exhaust fans sucking all the heat out. But, fans and RGB are an aesthetic thing, and if thats the goal, those are a great option.

Thanks! The reason I added the extra ram is because he wants to use the pc to stream games, and I heard that generally you want extra ram for a streaming pc, but I'm not sure if that's 100% true. Thanks for the suggestions!!

O, if he wants to stream, get a 9900k for sure. Streaming is very CPU intensive, lots of people actually go Ryzen because of it, but if you can afford a 9900k, that will tear games up even while streaming. You will want to get a better CPU cooler tho... I am not sure the hyper 212 Evo I listed would be enough for that bad boy.

Also, I personally don't know about RAM requirements for streaming. I don't stream so I have no personal experience and thus no idea at all.

But most of what I said still applies, I just don't know about RAM. You can always get the 16 GB, see how it does, and add another 16 later.... That isn't a bad option.
