Minimum cpu requirements for 4k 30fps gaming?

My for cpu is limited around 200CAD, my options are ryzen 5 and i3 8th gen

It'd be fine, it's still a 4c/8t. But the iGPU on that can't run anything close to 4K30 in really any titles, so it's a silly choice because the 6c/12t R5 2600 is usually around the same price, or only a little more.

Eh, for most games, especially the Battlefield titles and such, you really want at least 4c/8t, preferably 6 actual cores or more. I'd say a good i7, Ryzen, or 8th/9th gen i5 is a much better choice, 4c/4t i5s will struggle in modern titles, and only get worse in the future because the entire market has switched towards 4 cores on the low end, 6+ cores in pretty much everything else.

30 FPS is the target

 

30FPS doesnt need anyting more powerful lthan a 2nd gen i5. The throughput to and from the GPU simply isnt high enough for any difference in CPU performance to show.

 

The question was 'minimum requirments for 4k 30 FPS' .

 

You can pick up a used sandybridge i5 and board for crazy cheap prices.

If you're choosing between Ryzen 5 and an i3 then I would suggest getting the Ryzen 5.
