One cable to a plug, two ISPs?

Hi guys,

because local authorities were living under a rock for pretty much like 10 years, they are upgrading cables in the area from ADSL speeds to VDSL in the next couple of months. With it I wanna get an upgraded internet of 250 Mbps instead of current whooping 6 Mbps (even pidgeons are faster messengers ...).

 

Is it possible NOT to cancel the 6 Mbps ISP (T-Mobile) and still get the upgraded internet from a different ISP? The T-Mobile has contract with my landlord`s brother making the situation even more complicated. Therefore i wanna find a workaround not having to deal with them and going through all the fuzz. The slower ISP won`t be in use, only the one provider I will set, and one single VDSL router.

 

What do you thing? Is it possible?

In some cases, VDSL systems use same cables that ADSL does, so unless there are no cables coming in to your building, there is no direct need to replace cables. Unless the ISP wishes to for some reasons.

 

There are many options. Multiple ISPs could be using the same line, meaning you can only get connection from one at a time (that is being done with fiber optics in some regions, am not fully sure with the copper based connections). You'd need to get clarification from the ISP.

Thats something I`d like to avoid tbh :( Don`t wanna deal about it with the landlord, because it would take quite some time to figure it out.

Cables are already in the building, so I hope I could use it. We`ll see the feedback from the provider. Thanks
