Hi there, i've been doing some pc stuff for some time now and i've been curious all this time. How exactly does the advertised read/write speed work and how does it translate to the 400-700 mb/s speeds i experience when for example: copying a game to my second ssd. Im also curious how i could improve my drive's speeds to whats advertized (6.300 mb/s) (showing 400-600 when copying files/games). Last question which im also curious how i obtain 1gbps copy speeds on my ssd's. My specs: ASUS PRIME Z690-P D4 https://azerty.nl/product/asus-prime-z690-p-d4-moederbord/4626469?utm_campaign=&utm_content=&utm_source=tweakers.net&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term= i7 12700f https://azerty.nl/product/intel-core-i7-12700f-processor/4918516?channable=03bea9736b750034393138353136fc&utm_campaign=&utm_content=&utm_source=tweakers.net&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term= 32gb ddr4 3200Mhz https://www.megekko.nl/product/2046/1118446/DDR4-Geheugen/Corsair-DDR4-Vengeance-RGB-Pro-2x16GB-3200-Geheugenmodule rtx 3070 https://store.nvidia.com/nl-nl/geforce/store/gpu/?page=1&limit=9&locale=nl-nl&category=GPU&gpu=RTX 3070 Ti,RTX 3070 Western Digital Black SN850X 1TB M.2 https://www.proshop.nl/SSD/WD-Black-SN850X-PCIe-40-NVMe-M2-1TB/3097425?utm_source=tweakers&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=pricesite Also recently bought an external ssd +enclosure via usb-c: Kinston Fury renegade 1TB https://tweakers.net/pricewatch/1759900/kingston-fury-renegade-ssd-heat-spreader-1tb.html Hope someone can provide me with some answers For any questions u can ping me and contact me in any way.

I ordered a 970 EVO Plus NVMe M.2 SSD 250GB SSD to boot instead of my HDD, and its coming in tomorrow. I am really excited to increase startup speeds, faster editing, and game load times but I have a question. Before I copy my HDD data to my SSD I want to make sure Windows 10 is running fine. My Windows 10 right now is a little funky (don't ask) and I'm wondering if I should reinstall windows before I transfer the data over or reinstall windows after? Does it matter? Just want some different opinions I guess.

So I have always believed I have poor performance and lots of issues with my Samsung hard drives.... That being said; this download started (about 200bg) and was running just over 100 MB/s consistently until it got about 60 GB downloaded. Then it dropped down as low as 25 but averages in the mid 30's for the remaining time... IF I pause the DL and restart it'll jump back up. The slow down as you can see from the screen shot, always happens when at 100 percent disk usage but the read / writes are at zero. I don't understand how then usage is so high if read/write are 0. This doesn't seem normal? caching? IDK. I thought it was internet, but it's very clearly not. (also i have gigabit if that matters)

Hello all I just upgraded my package this is what I the package I have, My speed is kushti downstairs, but upstairs on my desktop I’m barely hitting 200mbps. is it because of a Wi-Fi pod they gave me? Is there anything I can do to improve my speeds, anyone know why this is occurring? I am currently on the virgin media super Hub 5

The Intel website says the max supported ram speed for the I9 9900K is DDR4-2666. So i figured that getting anything above that speed would be pointless. Because the CPU would not be able to take advantage of the extra speed. But last night i watched this video from Linus where he used the I9 9900KS in a build with DDR4-3600 ram. So i'm guessing that there is something that i don't know about to take advantage of faster ram speeds then your CPU can support? Maybe overclocking your CPU would allow it to use faster speeds? If so is there a way to get an I9 9900K to use DDR4-3600 without wasting speeds? Is there a point to get DDR4-3600 for an I9? Video: https://youtu.be/oa9VQuPsivU?t=298

I came across a very weird problem with my network and on my PC. 1. When I connect to my PC using WiFi from router the speeds are very low (2-3Mbps on YouTube) 2. When I connect to my PC using Wire from router the speeds are very low(2-3Mbps on YouTube) 3. When I connect to my PC from my MODEM the speeds are high (30Mbps on YouTube) 4. When I connect to my Android Phone from ROUTER speeds are high (25Mbps on YouTube) 5. When I connect to my Android Phone from MODEM, speeds are high (20Mbps on YouTube) I really can't understand whats going on. Can someone please help? Thanks

Note before reading: I disconnect my drive the safe way (through windows), and I am using USB 3.0 on the back of the motherboard. The SSD being tested is an 840 EVO. File system is NTFS. After much testing, I'm starting to see a pattern. See, I noticed that when I went to try to copy a folder from a HDD to a SSD containing ~13k photos mostly png and jpg it started fast and then gradually slowed down to ~17mb/s. Inatech SSD enclosure: I didn't get an SSD just so I can transfer stuff that slow. Here's where it gets complicated, try to keep up. I disconnected it and reconnected it. Tried again but same thing, it was slow. I decided to test a different external drive enclosure. Sure enough, when I plugged it in, it was going faster initially and for longer, then slowed down, so I thought I had a bad SSD enclosure. SSD enclosure #2: To make sure, I connected it to a 3rd enclosure. It also was going fast. SSD enclosure #3: So I figured my Inatech SSD enclosure was bad. BUT, I went to plug it in again and test it and noticed it was going fast this time. That doesn't make sense. Inatech SSD enclosure Run #2: Here's my conclusion of what I think is the reason why, and also I want to know why Windows does this (assuming this is a Windows thing). I noticed that sometimes when I tell Windows to disconnect my drive, the external drive's disk usage suddenly goes up and Windows says it can't disconnect it. It's writing to the drive at around 20 mb/s but it's not filling up and system memory usage isn't changing. I try again to disconnect it while it's in the middle of writing to it and suddenly I can. So far it seems that whenever this event happens, if I plug in the drive again, it suddenly starts copying files much faster. The result: If the drive gets high write speeds suddenly when I want to disconnect it, the next time I plug it in it will perform a lot faster. It will gradually slow down and this process will need to happen again to get fast speeds (but it doesn't happen every time I tell it to disconnect). So what is happening that causes this to happen? Here is the program in task manager that is writing to the external disk like crazy on some times when I try to disconnect it.

Im using the CAM software to control the fans and the pump speed. Is it wise to have the pump at 100% or so at all times ? Or is it better to have it around 60-85% ? Does it effect the lifespam?

Hello everyone, I was getting ready to overclock my Ryzen 3 today so I ran and Aida 60 test to get some baseline temps and noticed in CPUID that my RAM is running at 2927 [16-17-17-35]. I'm just wondering if this is just Aida not having the speed right or if it's actually clocked at that speed... Last week I clocked it to 2933 and it booted right after that and it has been working ever since I guess I never though to actually look at the speed of it but I'm new to computer build so I assumed if it worked and everything was stable that I was okay, Any suggestions on what I should do or is this normal? My motherboard is the Asus Prime b350m-a and Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000 RAM

Ok so I read that ram speed matters with Ryzen and I got my 1600x (because it was on sale for 250 instead of 330 and the non x wasn't on sale which was 300 at the time) and I'm seeing ram speeds for DDR4 start from 2133 and go up from there. I have also seen how no matter how fast you get, you need to venture into the BIOS to clock it to it's advertised speeds because it always comes factory at 2133. So. Does it matter if I buy a kit of 2133 or a kit of 2400 or 2666 etc? Or am Is the advertised speed how much factory allows me to clock before I need more $$$ for faster ram.

And here I am again! Back on the Linus tech tip forum. Basically my problem this time is slow transfer speeds when transfering to the computer. Copying from the computer is fine but to it then we have a problem. You see for yourself which one is copying to the computer. The other 2 images are speed tests ones on a SMB protocol and the other is on TDP protocol. So it's just when it comes to real world use of file transfer that I get the slow copy speeds. Anyone care to shine some light? Thanks. EDIT: Cable from pc to rj45 plate this runs in the wall to router, then rj45 cable out from wall plate by router into the back of the router. My phone is connected by WiFi.

How fast is too fast? is 8ghz, 15ghz, 35ghz even possible ever? or would this not be possible unless cpus were made completely different? or is it more likley for us to see 10, 20 , 100, 1000 cores and advanced multi threading at more current speeds?

Hello, Just curious if anyone could tell me if this seems right ? My CPU is set to 3.60 but runs most of the time at 4.7 to 4.9 most of the time. I remember installing somthing called easytuner from Gigabyte when installing the RGB light controller with their ''APP STORE''. I thought maybe that was controlling it but I can't seem to find any gigabyte services running unless they're called somthing else. Then I thought that maybe Task Manager was glitchy? not giving the correct info and checked with HWMonitor and via the bios and got simlar results. WITH and WITHOUT the Enhanced Multi-Core Preformance On the results are the same I've disabled, enabled and also set it to auto and nothing changed. CPUID HWMonitor Report: System Services.

Hello LTT Community So I recently installed a fresh copy of Windows 10 Pro on my new 240gb Apacer Panther SSD. I decided just now to test my boot speed to the appearance of the lock screen and I was rather surprised with the results that I got. Here is how I conducted my tests: Restart Times are from the moment I press the Restart Button located in the Windows Start Menu (Software) Startup Times are from the moment I press the Power Button located on my PC Tower. (Hardware) My Results: 1st Restart (Fast Boot Disabled) 36.45 Seconds 1st Startup (Fast Boot Disabled) 16.86 Seconds 2nd Restart (Fast Boot Enabled) 41.32 Seconds 2nd Startup (Fast Boot Enabled) 17.30 Seconds My simple question is. What does fast boot actually do? I would think it would be in the name but from the results that I have gathered when I turned on fast boot in my BIOS my system had worse boot times. And lastly what options in my BIOS may actually help me speed up my boot NOTE: I didn't do any extensive testing and some of the timings will come down to human error. My SSD has a write speed of 300mb/s Thanks.

I own a Link Station Model: LS210D0201 (https://www.buffalotech.com/products/linkstation-210). My uncle gave it to me, and I have a cat 6e cable attached to my ethernet switch. My network ethernet switch (http://us.dlink.com/products/business-solutions/dgs-108/) is connected to my router by a cat 7 cable. The router I own is a NetGear nighthawk x4s (https://www.netgear.com/home/products/networking/wifi-routers/R7800.aspx). My PC (https://pcpartpicker.com/list/GZyhxG) is connected to my router by cat 7 as well. I get around 20 megabytes per second on it while trying to transfer files from my PC to it. The place in which I transfer the files two is a virtual hard drive located on the NAS. Is there a way I could make this transfer faster?

So I just built my new PC and I forgot about a wifi adapter so I'm using a powerline ethernet bridge. I used it for my PS4 Pro before (My PC is retiring it) without any problems in-game except downloading things and I was just wondering why I get such low speeds? I'm using a Brite-View BVP-5100 if thats needed. Pic Related: My Speeds

I recently got faster internet installed (100 down / 10 up) and a new modem as well, the wired speeds are what they are supposed to be but the wireless is a tenth of that, is it the modem or am I doing something wrong? The modem is a TP-Link VN020-F3 I know it's not the best but 10mbps is really slow. Plus it's rated for 300mbps. My phone (Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite) has also decided to not ant to connect to the modem.

Hey there, I'm having issues with my SSD. For some reason I'm only getting around 15-30 MB/s read speeds while I'm still getting ~500 MB/s write speeds with my Crucial MX300 525GB. It used to work fine but I noticed everything stored on my SSD being slower than normal and I just noticed the read speeds are so low. Could anyone please help me fix this? I have no clue what the issue is.
