CES 2017 begins. What would you like to have within your budgetary limitation? I would like to ignore all those stupid products from 3,800 companies who will eventually try to give us 1000+ different categorized products. Without harming the Nature, which would be dealing with the proper utilities? What are your thoughts? ( @WoodenMarker, @wkdpaul)

Currently I have a m.2 for my C, which somehow is almost full even though it's 256gb, no games so idk why. Anyway, rather than running games in 4k from a HDD, I'd prefer to load some AAA games a tad faster than carrier pigeon. Is there much real world difference between the 750 and 850? Not going to really use it for anything par gaming, no rendering / recording etc. Thank's for the help! James

Hello all, I'm currently looking to upgrade to a Corsair 460x RGB case however I'm contious that CES is only a couple weeks away. Should I buy it now or is there a chance that after CES, prices could drop even slightly with new products released? I suspect not however thought it wouldn't hurt to ask Thanks, Calumdonian

Samsung is currently preparing for CES 2017 with a lineup of monitors aimed at gamers and professionals alike. The monitors are supposedly going to feature curvature and quantum dot technology. The first monitor boasts a 16:9 aspect ratio with 1,800R which isn't a common combination to see; the panel type has yet to be disclosed. The second monitor seems to be aimed at gamers with a 144hz refresh rate, 1ms response time and Freesync capability in mind. The panel is supposedly a Vertical Alignment or VA panel which is quite common with Samsung monitors. There will be other monitors that will also be displayed in their booth that are most likely their less expensive products that seem to feature many of what has been aforementioned. I will be curious to see how Samsung will sell these monitors considering the competition they have to face from manufacturers such as Acer, Ben Q, Asus and many more saturating the market that they have already captured. I will be anxious to see how people will respond to the decision to push more curved monitors into the market with varying aspect ratios to suit almost everyone (16:10 anyone?). What strikes me the most is the fact that they're now going to try to push Quantum Dot into the picture (pun intended) especially with OLED crawling slowly towards the monitor market though their are still some minor tweaks required to get either technology to really entice people to buy them. We'll just have to wait until CES to see how things will shape up. Source: Samsung (1), Samsung (2), Amazon

Hi everyone, I was purchasing some parts for my first PC Build ever, and the guy at the counter told me, after I learned that the 480 that I wanted was out of stock, that 'there may be a replacement to the current Polaris GPUs', and he wasn't talking about VEGA (which is supposed to be higher end and therefore more expensive). He knew they were just rumours, and I did some research on my own and I couldn't find anything. Does anyone know anything? Many thanks in advance Jack

One benefit of AMD being late this time is that they have something to show at CES, meaning it won't ALL be smurtfones and smurtcars and smurtrefrigerators, your grandma's notepad and similar yucky things this year. In addition there's the wave of HDR monitors to check out (though, knowing CES, most companies will bring a TV or two and give you a blank stare if you ask about monitors) If anyone's going, I have a request: see if you can sneak into wherever the Ryzen demo machine is and put your hand on the CPU heatsink for science.

So this device is going to be a backpack with a balloon with a string attached inside it. When the shoulder cord is pulled the back opens and the balloon is released 10 to 15 ft high. What do you think?

I am assuming that several members of the Linus Empire will be attending CES, and there is ONE item I want to get some review of because I cannot attend. OSSIC X headphones. I know Linus and Luke HATE headphones with multiple speakers, but they claim to have cracked the holy grail of superior positional audio. I want to know if it's really decent and sounds good. How well does it actually work? I want to hear the opinions of the TOTALLY jaded Linus staff who have likely tried throngs of terrible "gaming" headsets and know what crap is. And more than that, if the positional audio is up to snuff... how about the general sound quality? How does music sound? If the reports are good, I intend top drop some cash to get some myself... but I'd rather hear some third party reports first.

A friend of mine came across this article and we both had a good laugh regarding the authors commends about this $10,000 (Yup thats Ten Thousand Dollars) Audiophile Ethernet Cable from AudioQuest. Product Page > http://www.audioquest.com/ethernet/diamond Link to Hilarious Article > http://arstechnica.com/staff/2015/02/to-the-audiophile-this-10000-ethernet-cable-apparently-makes-sense/ I won't go into a rant about how stupid the companies claims are as the author of this article sums it up far better than I could anyway. After we both stopped laughing I actually started to get angry. As a network engineer who is intimately familiar with Ethernet and the OSI model I was rather ticked off at the companies claims. Went to their web site and I see .... AudioQuest CES2017 Please o Please o Please if anyone going to CES knows half as much about how Ethernet cables work as I do please confront these guys and get it on camera! If you haven't seen it check out the LTT video on the crazy HDMI cable hilarious!

So it seems that AMD plans to launch Zen at CES 2017 ( 6-9 january ) , which should hopefully appease the people hoping to get the chips as soon as possible . Well at least it should launch very early in 2017 . Many of us were worried it would be arriving much later . that is , however , retail avaiability isn't certain . But i won't be getting a new cpu anytime soon anyway . I just want to see how it performs . source: http://www.kitguru.net/components/cpu/matthew-wilson/amd-reportedly-launching-zen-and-x370-motherboards-at-ces/

https://www.cnet.com/news/meet-neon-the-artificial-human-startup-funded-by-samsung/ https://www.neon.life Neon is developed by Samsung Technology and Advanced Research Labs (STAR Labs) and is funded by Samsung. Very interesting. If what they say is true then this could open a whole new chapter in the history of artificial intelligence. So far a lot of the information is hidden, but still intriguing nontheless.

Aside from showcasing phones, TVs, sensors, automated driving and other bits of tech, CES also seems to be a hot place for the launch of some new camera equipment. And it seems that the crowd-pleaser is the launch of the EOS-1DX Mark III, Canon's latest entry in the EOS 1-D line of flagship professional-oriented sports camera, aimed at photojournalists, sports and wildlife photographers. EOS-1DX Mark III There are some other big launches as well, notably Nikon's new D780 DSLR, an update to the brilliant-but-aging D750. Nikon D780 Aside from all the big guns, there were some other small announcements, which include but are not limited to; The unveiling of a physical Nikon D6 body but without any other information aside from that. The Nikon Coolpix P950 ultrasuperzoom bridge camera, now with 4K recording, an improved EVF and support for RAW files. The Nikkor Z 70-200 f/2.8S lens launch for $2600 and shipping in February alongside a Nikkor 120-300 F-Mount lens for $9500. Canon confirming that no new EF lenses are in development, with all new lenses being for RF "unless there is demand". Source(s); Opinion time;

Hello. I copied my question a week ago below because people said that I should wait for CES because AMD could release new CPU's. They did now but as I heard its only for laptops. Qould you guys help me for my question below? thanks Hello, I currently have a Intel i5-4590 3.30 GHz on a MSI Z97-G43 motherboard and I think it is time to upgrade the CPU. I am thinking about buying one with 16 cores at a price range max. 350€/$ but I am not that much into PC tech so thats why I create this topic. 2. Should I wait for the CES because the CPU's gonna drop in price? 3. I proberly gonna need a new Mainboard if I buy a new CPU so could someone please find a good CPU and a fitting motherboard? (I think a AMD cpu would be the right choice but idk) 4. I recently bought new RAM so I now have DDR3 1600 2x4 & 1x8 GB Crucial Ballistix Sport. Do I need new RAM too or do RAM sticks not have diffrent plugs? I know its a bit much asked for but please help me Best Regards Daniel current specs (idk maybe its usefull) CPU: Intel i5-4590 3.30 GHz GPU: Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB Mainboard: MSI Z97-G43 RAM: DDR3 1600 2x4 & 1x8 GB Crucial Ballistix Sport Power Supply: 600W CoolerMaster B2

Nvidia has finally taken the wraps off of the RTX 2060. For just $349, they are advertizing that you will be able to play Battlefield V at medium RTX settings at 1440p at 60fps. The card is said to have 5 gigarays/sec and 6Gb of GDDR6 VRAM. They are also boasting about the high availability of the card.

Reviews TL;DR/W : Performs about like a 1070 Ti (1-2% slower) at about the same price. My thoughts: Seems like a pretty good launch, nothing too exciting (no real innovation in terms of plain performance) but DLSS will be pretty neat once it comes out. At $400 it seems like a pretty good value, even better at $350, especially once DLSS support starts getting implemented

So got home and started to watch a video by pcworld https://youtu.be/9V_G7AvCIPc Link right smear^^^ As I was watching I noticed something if you take a look at the cpu ( now I'm by far an expert just started building as it so happens) but those look like traces that exactly match what would fit another 7nm chiplet or am I wrong? If correct and that being an 8 core 16 thread that means 16 cores if not at least 10 too 12 would possible right?. Anyway wanted to share my find.

My uncle and I shut down early for this? AMD's Ryzen 3 wasn't even a featured properly and nothing about navi. Showing thr half assed ryzen 3, 8 core 16thread that wasn't finished doesn't mean sqat and they didn't explain if it was a R5 or R7 model, that could have been the highest end for all we know. Vega 2 aka radeon 7 congrats on matching the rtx2080 now where's my navi architecture gpu ppl I want something like the 3080 for my 1440p at a reasonable price point. Such disappointment, at least show us the ryzen line up so ppl can feel a little satisfaction, but no proper announcements. Well they wasted their 1 chance to make Intel shit their pants at CES this year.

Apparently CES 2019 rescinded an award and blocked a company from showcasing the robotic Ose sex toy for women, further calling it vulgar, immoral, etc, yet in past and at the current CES they have allowed male focused sex products to be showcased and have given out awards to in the past (i.e. sex robots and toys for men, VR Porn for men, etc). Link to the original news story: https://venturebeat.com/2019/01/08/lora-dicarlo-says-ces-wrongly-rescinded-award-for-micro-robotic-sex-toy/ Link to one from the BBC (Caution: be a bit gender rhetoric heavy compared to the above link): https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-46809807 Overall, it sounds like some gender-bias to me, for them to allow male focused sex products at CES and have given awards for in the past years and still currently allow even this year in 2019 there's other sex toys and the usual VR porn demos at CES, however block a female focused product, even one whom the CES 2019 judges vetted/reviewed and were going to give an award to based on it's robotic tech, especially since it was made in partnership with Oregon State University's Robotics and Engineering department as this device uses innovative micro-robotic "mimicry" to mimic the feeling of various parts of the human body. This is something I think may be worth a mention on The WAN Show if there's one about news surrounding CES 2019. P.S. For those who think CES blocked this product simply because they want to not have adult products at CES anymore... this year's CES showcases a vibrator for men called Tentuo, company Naughty America is utilizing AR to overlay Stripper Poles into your environment along with "holographic" strippers to occupy those poles, there's an Apple Watch powered vibrator for ladies which a male partner has control over, then there's also the yearly showcased VR Porn booths/experiences, and one of the exhibitors were literally shuttling men off to one of the nearby legal vegas brothels for an Alexa/Amazon Echo powered porn experience. So in otherwords, if it's for males and made by males, it's A-OK at CES. A bit of insight to this year's sex toys at CES 2019: https://phys.org/news/2019-01-sex-toys-vegas-tech.html however there's a lot more begin shown at CES this year than what this article is focusing on.

after all the leaks we already had the last while, it should be time for some heapy news! as many know, CES is going to start on January 8th, and ther are many companies we might or are going to see some cool tech from. for today I'm focussing on Google and Amazon, assistant and to be more specific. they are competing heavily in the assistant side, and they are about to release some really cool products (or products made cooler by the use of assistant. They seem to have the same products, but who's going to make better use of the assistants? That's at (or after) CES to tell. here is a list of upcoming products. C by GE smart lighting (you'll need a additional hub for Alexa, apple home will arive down the line) D-Link Battery Wi-Fi Water Sensor (google home and apple home only) Kohler smart bathroom (come in different models for both Alexa and Google) Gourmia 11-in-1 Deluxe Multicooker (both google and alexa) Vuzix Blade (starts with alexa, will have google assistant down the line according to devs) Asus Lyra Voice (Alexa only) All of these products will be released, and the Kohler sounds really cool, a smart bathroom, but you'll have to burn some money for it... the other tech will be cheaper, but on some products the prices aren't availible yet. A fast overview of all products C by GE D-link sensors Kohler bathroom Gourmia 11-in-1 Deluxe Multicooker Vuzix Blade Asus Lyra voice Main sources: https://www.cnet.com/news/google-assistant-products-ces-2019-new/ and https://www.cnet.com/news/all-the-new-alexa-products-from-ces-2019/ more coverage of CES on Cnet: https://www.cnet.com/ces/ don't be to harsch on me, this is my first article

Looks like next gen Ryzen won't be here for a while Bois The only info we really got was a Cinemark score of it competing with the i9 9900k, and beating it! It is confirmed that they will be 7nm so that's cool What do you guys think? I hope the leaks are still somewhat true Edit: I thought I posted this in tech news, Damned mobile

Thermaltake is preparing to release a new AIO (All In One) water cooling part that cools both CPU and RAM. All with plenty of RGB. Unlike a typical AIO cooler, with a radiator and a CPU block, this new loop goes from the radiator to the CPU to a RAM water-block, and back. According to PCGamer, According to the company's press release, the products will launch in Q3 2020 in 360mm and 240mm radiator variants, and include a 2 year warranty. On the plus side, having a single device for the RGB on one's CPU, two fans, and RAM could simplify RGB management, as the press release states the RGB can be Not sure who's demanding watercooled RAM, but time (and and benchmarks) will tell if the benefits are tangible.
