DigitalHermit reacted to GoodBytes in Intel Says Iris and Iris Pro Graphics Can Outperform 80% of Discrete GPUs – Casual and Mainstream Users Don’t Need dGPUs
Again this statement. Every new generation chip, Intel pull this claim.
And this is what I can tell you:
1- 100% false. The obvious doesn't need to be explained
2- Intel sees its graphics solution as a "free solution" (despite paying the CPU more since Intel integrated this), and therefor put 0 effort or care. Windows 10 drivers are still GOD AWFUL (passing from awful status from Windows 7/8). Crashes non stop, and when Windows 10 was released, Intel could not get their power saving feature work, causing people to have hot laptops at idle, and shitty battery life, blaming Windows 10, when it is really Intel. This made Microsoft send its own team of engineers to Intel, to work for Intel on the drivers, in order to fix really big bugs (but sadly not all) to get the drivers in a better working state (passing from abomination to god awful) and get the power saving feature to work again. When Microsoft needs to come over and fix shit at their own expense, this is when you know how much Intel cares about their graphics solution.
3- Intel graphics solution does not FULLY support: OpenGL, DirectX, DirectComputer nor OpenCL. 'causing games to crash at some point with unsupported API errors, and programs using OpenCL or DirectCompue crashing when it executes something not supported by the Intel chip. So, what is the point that it has the performance of a GTX 980Ti, when it doesn't have the basics right?
Here is a great idea Intel, take all that B.S marketing money, and put it to your graphics chip team, let the product speak for itself. If it is cruelly good, and truly delivers as you want us to believe, it will, and will convince us.

Iris Pro isn't actually in anything buyable though. The 2 Broadwell chips with them cost like 3x what they're worth and within the premade space they ransomwared it to Apple, GG.

Also, Intel's drivers are shit, if I was THAT poor I'd still take the AMD R7 260.

Opinon: To me the iPad Pro was never going to be a laptop/desktop replacement simply because I can't run FULL software on it (Eg: Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite and Steam games).

Microsoft's Dan Laycock - Senior Communications Manager for Microsoft Surface made some pretty interesting remarks about the iPad Pro.

Opinion: I think it's kinda true, the iPad Pro is limited in the sense that it runs iOS.

Conclusion: If I had to choose between a Surface Pro 4 and an iPad Pro, without a doubt I'd pick the Surface for my needs. Although this varies because everyone has different uses for the products.

DigitalHermit reacted to KemoKa in Japanese company announced 2.5" Non-NVME 13TB and 10TB SATA SSD drives (updated)
Being in the enterprise, I'd expect it to be read from and written to more or less constantly for a really large amount of the time. A good-quality SSD will last around half that time of being roasted to death by constant writes (and in that time it'll write multiple petabytes of data before kicking the bucket - far beyond what any normal SSD would write to in its lifespan). In that sort of situation, a solid 10-year warranty on one of those SSDs would not help you, because the drive was being [ab]used far beyond its intended use case. An enterprise-level warranty would almost certainly cover any kind of use circumstances you'd expect in a server environment - packed in a tight space, dumping heat into each other, running at full load for a long time - so a 3-year warranty doesn't seem that bad, given how much load enterprise drives are put under.

I mean, you're talking about guaranteeing a drive to operate at high load without fault for 3 years. That's an eternity for a server drive.

Well... you say that... >.> Enermax has a HDD-styled drive enclosure that has two 2.5" bays, connectors and a small RAID controller that you can use to make a RAID 0, 1 or JBOD array.

Honestly, I would not mind just having an SSD that's like a 3.5" HDD form factor, but just crammed to the teeth with NAND chips. It'd probably suck as much power as an HDD, but it'd still be frickin' awesome

Our University replaced the majority of their windows machines with iMacs that dual booted windows so that they could have both windows and mac labs in one, but also because people stole stuff out of the cases if they could get access to them so the all-in-one option was much better for them.

They've started to phase out the iMacs now with windows all-in-ones becoming more affordable over the coming years, but most of the University infrastructure and computers aren't much older than 4 years. We even have one of the top 10 most powerful privately owned super computers ^^

And now for a non-techie story:
I brought my Edifier 2.1ch speaker to a party disassembled and left it for the others to assemble... a task which consists of plugging in the white RCA jack to the white RCA socket, plugging in the red RCA jack to the red RCA socket, plugging in the unit to the mains and turning it on...
I left the party to gather more food and supplies and returned 5 hours later only to find out that they haven't touched the thing since they didn't know how to do it...

you know, this got me thinking.
this line specifically reads somewhat strange, using dissonance for that

root translations would tend to prefer to not use that word because that use of it can only be metaphorically correct, and not correct based on derivation.

there may be notable translation bias in Instant Bullet; maybe the author didn't really intend the way some things were read. Makes me wonder if other parts of the script were spiced up in translations.

@BashZeStampeedo since you did some stuff with translation groups, would you guys ever intentionally use a poetic and literally incorrect construction, or bother to be as intricate/specific enough to substitute something like "discrepancy" with "dissonance"
@MyInnerFred opinions? though I don't think you would nitpick over it

With high volume output it seems inefficient to fuss over something so minute, and you don't "accidentally" make a writing choice like this. Of course, unless the original writer meant something like that intentionally (and poetically), but for translations between JP to EN I seriously doubt there being analogous syntax.

    sounds a bit romantically pushy
