BlunderCig reacted to ObsidianAura in PC confessions
I have 17 PCs hidden in various locations around my house and garage that are all rubbish and will never ever be used. Plus probably enough spare parts to build another 10 more if you're not worried about running inside a case.

Overclocking gives linear results, not diminishing returns.
Whether or not what you're doing on your computer can utilize more CPU headroom is another story.

This is the most nonsense I've read in a long while. That's not how cores are laid out.

BlunderCig reacted to ShaunK in Lga 771 cooling nightmare
Sorted!! Picked up some big heatsinks from a dell t7400 and attacheched an arctic f9 pro pwm to the front and a p8 pwm to the rear of each heatsink....
Now the cooling is superb ?
Thanks though guys

Evolution happens over hundreds/thousands of years. Nothing you're going to be able to see.

BlunderCig got a reaction from Tech_Dreamer in What Upgrades did you do on 2019 for your PC?
My buddy built a new rig, so I snagged his 16gb ddr3 ram for £15. It feels absolutely silly currently because my cpu is an i3 4130, but at least my system is ready for some decent multitasking when I -eventually- slot an i7 into it. (a used 4770k is still £115 currently :/)

BlunderCig reacted to WereCatf in Is there a point to desktops?
Some of us need/want more performance than you can get out of a laptop. Also, many of us don't like the jetplane-sound a laptop does when you're doing some heavy task on it. This is to say, yes, there is plenty of point to desktops.

BlunderCig reacted to MkaiL in CPU Cooler Performance Tier List
Maybe add to each tier what they are capable of cooling (tdp) for a better overview?
