Biomecanoid got a reaction from server_mint in Upgrading Dell inspiron Zino HD 400
Hello,
I recently got a Zino HD 400 mini PC and I thought it would be a nice candidate to run Libreelec and upgrade my old ugoos UT4 android and also replace my NAS.
Here are the original specs:
RAM
Memory Speed 800 MHz Technology DDR II SDRAM Installed Size 3 GB PROCESSOR
Athlon X2 Processor Number 3250e Clock Speed 1.5 GHz VIDEO OUTPUT
Graphics Processor ATI Mobility Radeon Discrete Graphics Card * So far I have replaced the 1gb stick with a 2gb one for a total of 4gb. * I also installed an old sandisk ssd that I had and installed Libreelec. * I am also waiting for an HDD Caddy: https://www.ebay.com/itm/9-5MM-Caddy-SATA-2nd-HDD-SSD-Hard-Drive-For-CD-DVD-ROM-Optical-Bay-adapter/313044582435?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 to install my SSD in to make room for a 6TB 3.5'' HD for my movies ( to help me get rid of my NAS ) * I also plan to upgrade my CPU to an AMD Athlon II X3 420E : https://www.ebay.com/itm/AMD-Athlon-II-X3-400E-405E-415E-420E-Socket-AM2-Triple-Core-CPU-Processor/173991219166?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&var=472782518588&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 * And finally install a cheap Atheros WiFi: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Atheros-AR5B95-150Mbps-PCI-E-802-11a-b-g-n-Wireless-Mini-WiFi-Card/233831338041?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 https://www.ebay.com/itm/2PCS-WIFI-2-4G-3dbi-PCN-Antenne-IPEX-IPX-WLAN-Laptop-Bluetooth-Wirele-WCY/353007321081?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 With only the few minor upgrades that i have done the Zino runs Libreelec like a dream and far better than my ugoos UT4 which has lost HDMI audio passthru in Libreelec and i have to run Kodi on android now for passthru to work. The Zino seems to have no issues with audio passthru and can actually run HVEC 265 ( but slow hopefully the upgraded CPU will allow for better performance ) something that my ugoos UT4 could not and would play the videos with green colors and eventually lock up. I will keep upgrading with photos and other material. Advice and recommendations are welcome. Thank you -

Biomecanoid got a reaction from Trdamus in What is FASTER Bios raid 0 or windows raid 0?
Raid0 is something that most people forget to do or are just plain afraid of, and they are missing out on a performance benefit, Raid0 Is fine,HDDs nowadays are very reliable and you can afford a tiny bit les reliability for the sake of speed and storage capacity,
Prefer MB Raid, its slightly better because it loads before the OS and can be bootable ( if you care about that ) which windows RAID is not, speed wise they should be about the same.
I use RAID0 for decades and I am happy with it they last about a decade which is fine and outlast the PC, Just to be on the safe side DO backup your data as you should be doing anyways Raid or not Raid.

Power Ratio to something like 80% and core clock downclock in 200mhz increments until its stable. If that does not work downclock the CPU as well.

Biomecanoid reacted to miXiTO in Games goes not responding when on high load
So I played GTA V in a drift server which has more load on gpu then stock gta, so it crashed after like 30mins of playing. In pubg I capped my frames had no problems, but teammate threw a smoke nearby which ends up in heavy gpu load so I crashed, but If I uncap frames and set settings to max possible I crash just from running around in like a minute. Also tried csgo for like couple hours no problems there I get around 400fps there and load on cpu and gpu around 40% both.

Biomecanoid reacted to miXiTO in Games goes not responding when on high load
Tried GTA V (don't have many games currently cause of reinstalls of windows), I tried running absolutely nothing in a background I used ameliorated windows on other ssd and all needed programs and no other soft running. But casually I have running: Discord, Steam(obviously), Precision X1 (to control fan speed) and thats it.

PC SPECS:
CPU:Ryzen 5 3600
GPU:EVGA GTX 1080Ti 11GB
RAM:DDR4 16GB 3200mhz
MOBO:ASUS PRIME B450M-K
SSD:Crucial MX 500GB
The problem is when I go into a game for example PUBG and set all ultra and uncapped frames its all good for ~1minute fps like normal (~140) but then it just crashes(not responding) Windows remains fully usable, so I open task manager and stop the program. Then I tried setting all settings lowest and cap frames around 80 so load on gpu and cpu is low. Ended up no crashing. Any ideas? Cause I am out of it :(
Things I tried already:
buying new PSU 650w corsair cx650m reinstalling windows trying different GPU drivers resetting bios to defaults (disabling XMP) running all stock using different SSD taking out CMOS battery and putting back after couple minutes (RESETTING) bought new case (LIAN LI LANCOOL 215) to get better temps(gpu and cpu around 65celcius playing games) running prime95 and furmark together - no crash -
Biomecanoid reacted to Bombastinator in HELP!.. I am loosing my mind
Just to attach a few “whys” to @Biomecanoid’s instructions
Cancel all overclocking:
this is because overclocks can create all kinds of he’ll partially because there’s several ways to do them. This is merely a setup move to make behavior predictable. It can be put back after the issue is found. If the issue goes away when the overclock is removed then the overclock WAS the issue in the first place.
reset bios:
a lot like above.
memtest ram several times:
the most common issue associated with crash after boot is problems with memory. PSU issues have also become common lately because some PSUs can’t handle new CPU and GPU momentary boost features, but memory is the traditional one.
memtest86 is the classic “quick” test (for rather lax definitions of quick) to look for problems with memory but it can miss subtle problems. It can take a few hours to run, but it’s still a lot faster than the older method which is to put in only a single stick of memory in slot #1 and see if the problem replicates. Often needs to be done for every stick.
Disconnect all unnecessary hardware:
sometimes if there is a problem with a peripheral (to include drives) it can cause crashes.
boot to a linuxLive usb and see if...:
this does two things. 1 It takes windows out of the equation if there is a problem there and 2 it takes the boot drive out of the equation in case there is a problem with that.

RTX 3090 should do the trick, based on the information you've given us.

* Cancel all overclocking
* Reset bios
* Memtest RAM several times
* Disconnect all unnecessary hardware
* Boot to a Linux live usb and see if the issue occurs there too.

Biomecanoid got a reaction from NoKnowledge in .m4a to .doc *HELP Please*
m4a is audio and doc is text. That is not going to be easy. You would need voice recognition software to write the text and can write gibberish if there is noise or people don't sound clear enough.
Text from such a software would need too much proofing for errors that its better to do it the old fashioned way. Some times there are no shortcuts

Biomecanoid reacted to Dutch_Master in What is FASTER Bios raid 0 or windows raid 0?
Don't NEVER use RAID0, it's a recipe for loosing your data. The question is when, not if!
If speed matters that much, get an SSD for your data, or better yet, an NVMe drive. Btw, you were misinformed: RAID is not a speed-tool! If anything, RAID slows your system down as it needs to distribute your data across the drives. The fastest RAID, if you must, is RAID1, that simply copies everything over.
