TsmDan_YT got a reaction from klapstok in HELP- is this good? what should I change?
It's fine. You might need to flash the UEFI/BIOS or update the drivers for your CPU to work properly with it. I recommend getting a old spare CPU (like a Athlon 200GE) and then flashing the BIOS. However, if you get a fresh, new board, that shouldn't be a problem

TsmDan_YT got a reaction from Allptraum1989 in Threadripper 3970x for gaming?
maybe. Advanced Micro Devices' (why did I have to spell that out) Ryzen Threadripper is mostly meant for heavy rendering, like 3d, heavy video editing, xcode, stuff that eats up processing power. If you play a game prepare to be allowed to have crazy resolutions with every CPU-heavy setting enabled and your Threadripper to go through it like butter. Also, unless you have already bought it, build up ~$2000 to buy it as that is what it costs. But yeah, you can use it for gaming.
