Cygi reacted to mariushm in Toshiba vs Seagate vs WD which HDD should I choose?
Sounds like you copy pasted an article from a website... though it's mostly correct, so no harm done.
Note that they're already at 20 TB drives, not 14 TB.

Also, I have a problem with the line saying that you must have 7200 rpm or that it's best to get a drive that's 7200rpm ...
High rpm only matters for latency, when you're seeking data on drives. if someone needs fast access to data, they can go with a SSD which is several orders of magnitude faster.
Performance is a mix of rpm, data density and number of heads - you could have a 4 TB 7200 rpm drive that's slower than a 5400-5900 rpm 4 TB drive, if the first one has more platters or older generation platters  (ex 4 platters and 8 heads, 500 GB per surface  vs 4 TB in 2 platters and 4 heads, 1 TB per surface)

Personally, I think the best indicator is the warranty the manufacturer is willing to give.
I've had drives from Seagate and WD and the drives with 3 or more years warranty have lasted much longer.
I now have NAS grade drives with at least 3 years warranty in my system. I still have a 1 TB WD Black which initially had 5 years warranty - started to develop some bad sectors after 50-60k hours of operation and it's still working in my system to this day.
But.. when it comes to drives with 2 years warranty...  had a Seagate 2 TB drive that died on me at 2 years and around 3 weeks, with almost no SMART notification and a WD Green 2 TB started to get bad sectors at 1 year and 11 months mark and sent it to warranty and got a new drive.

It is a balance though... I wouldn't buy a WD Black drive instead of a WD Red Plus for example (what I bought last) because the price difference isn't justified, if all you need the drive for is storage... you can almost buy TWO drives for the price you'd pay for the WD Black, and you could keep that 2nd drive as a hot spare in case first fails.

I'll probably get slaughtered by a lot of audiophiles here, but I don't really think an additional amp is necessary for the DT770s. Especially not for the 80 Ohms version.

Use a Linux Live-CD to perform a file system check. Be careful though, using Win-OS to perform that check may wipe the data off the drive, so first of all, get another drive and make a direct copy of all data.

For $200 you can get stuff like the topping d10s and my favorite amp with Beyers the monoprice liquid spark. Or even the nice and powerful Magni heresy or 3+. All 3 are great for up to 600 ohm Beyers. For less money the Zen dac and k5 pro exist. Both have oppriste strengths and weaknesses the Zen dac has a better dac the k5 pro has a more powerful amp. But an 80 ohm 770 can run fine on more compact less powerful setups like a fiio btr5 or a Ifi hip dac pretty easily. Honestly I aggree with @startrek03 the 80 ohm 7+0 while it will benefit from a cleaner source and even a bit more power than a motherboard it's not completely nessecarry

Do you want portable or desktop? The Schiit stack mentioned above is great for desktop, as is the K3 if you want something a bit more discrete. I'd look at the iFi Hip-Dac of you want something portable.

I got the K5 Pro too for my Beyers and it's damn good! The sounds are immersive and my Amiron Home 250ohm can get very loud on gain 1 and volume knob not maxed.

It got the 6.35mm audiojack but the adapter is included for 3.5mm.

It's a pretty solid setup very powerful and good sounding for the price the amp has the power to compete with $100 anps and the dac while not as good as the Zen dac is still pretty decent

Look for a 1050ti without 6 pin connector. Lowering the power consumption will just decrease the FPS and temperature but its not ideal. Its not bad for GPU

The price gap between the two doesn't justify the extra performance.

try playing on 1000hz for a month and then switch back to 500, there is a difference. Gotta love the Panda ^^

Cygi reacted to yesbutno in Is RTX 2080TI enough for 240hz?
I've heavily debated the pros and cons between 1440p 144hz and 1080p 240hz and I've arrived at the conclusion that 240hz fits my tastes better as I only play competitive FPS shooters. I'm planning to upgrade to a i7 9700k and an RTX 2080TI and I was wondering if i would be able to easily achieve 240+ fps. Games I primarily play are CS:GO, Overwatch, R6:Siege and Apex Legends, for these games I mostly use competitive settings (Low/Medium). However I'm not sure if I should wait until Nvidia's 7nm GPUs to come out.
