star_pilot475 got a reaction from Bladen in New PC build help
You can pull off a pretty ballin' rig for $2500. Made some changes for you, went for a black with hints of RGB aesthetic. The 3900X will give you some future proofing, that’s why I left it in. Beefier CPU cooler to match the theme of the build, faster ram, more ssd storage, different case (again to match theme, but you can change it to whatever) and a different power supply.

I’d go for the 5700 XT. It trades blows with the 2070 Super for less money.

Exactly! That would be sweet!
Edit: can you imagine what an idiot you would look like if you actually had that tho??? ?

I think that was Zotac that did that too.
I like this idea, but imagine if it wasn't just for VR. A pc built completely inside a backpack. You could hook up a portable monitor with it and use it for hours just off of a battery built into the backpack...this would be sick.

Personally I'd get a Ryzen 1500x for the SMT and use the included cooler until you can afford a better one, but the wraith spire is really a very good cooler, I use one on my ryzen 1700 and never had an issue with it

Those "cheapo" SSDs are garbage, and perform worse than a hard drive when under load for long period of time.

If it's just the packaging that's damaged it seems like an ok deal.

star_pilot475 reacted to Mnky313 in What’s the best sub ~$250 laptop?
if he is fine buying used you can search eBay for old workstation laptops with 2nd-4th gen i7s and probably a keplar based quadro, even a K3000M is way better than intel HD graphics.
here is a M4700 with a 3720qm (which is actually quite good for this cheap of a laptop) and firepro M4000 (basically the same as a K3000M) for $200, just needs a charger and an SSD/HDD which will bring it up to about $250 total.

With that sort of budget this is the only option really.

Yeah, shipping was a little bit of a bitch ($40 but it's through UPS I guess) but $165 for a nice 16:10 monitor is easily worth the cash.
It's an early birthday present, basically.

A case and screen protector for my new phone that’s arriving Friday.
I’ve always had good results with Jetech's screen protectors. And for the case, well this one looked good and was cheap.
