Software needs to support hardware, not the other way around. In any case, for Windows 11 you need to have Secure Boot and TPM enabled in BIOS, which is most likely what's causing it to say not supported right now.

Yeah. I gave the vide a thumbs up, wanted to see comments and then I saw the comments weren't loading. I refreshed the page to find a private video.

They might have found a lot of mistakes that need the video to be made private. The reply above the performance of the 4060 Ti 8GB is one. The reply by @BamiGroenteis also another thing...

Also that eco-friendly sponsor messaging by UGREEN is a big load of bullocks. By... 2050?! You guys realize it's in TWENTY-SEVEN YEARS, right?

Just as a small point of clarification, the 8gb 4060 ti offers the same performance as the 16gb version. The only difference is the vram.

There is one error in the video as I don't think the rx 6800 has gen 2 ray tracing cores

But still enjoyed the video as it did seem like a lot of progress has been made with more Dubs for mistakes and also otherwise nicer to look at graphs that guide the viewers eyes to where to look.

One wrong move and you could damage them for life - Pretty clear this is talking about staring at a solar eclipse, or a welding arc etc
Could blasting them with light from our monitors be hurting them? - Pretty clearly says hurting not damaging, let alone 'permanently'

Correct. Because monitors 'permanently damaging your vision' was never asked

oh yes, people click a video about a terrible monitor to learn about eyestrain.

in case you actually, entirely missed the point, here is what it is:
beyond that, LTT isnt the channel for 40 minute long exposé pieces, they tell you enough to get you going, and if you want to deep dive, there's plenty of material from actual research on the topic.

it suggests that there might be an extremely common misconception that light-emitting displays cause eye damage. i've heard this at every step of the way towards my career in IT, and at every corner of my IT career. there exists this myth that the fact the display outputs light is the sole reason why displays cause eye strain (and as a result, a potential for hurting your eyesight)

the thing here is that near-sightedness is *THE* problem to solve among computer users, supposedly caused by the strain of using a display. could they have framed that better? yes. but that's not the point of the video to begin with. the point of the video was to talk about E-ink displays.

in other words, you're looking for a problem where there isnt one.

and your opinion on the ECC squad.. is incredibly misguided. it's not a replacement for community feedback, it's not a means to ignore what the general public has to say. it's a selection of people otherwise not tied to LMG, but are proven to be notably knowledgeable about a certain field, who get to see essentially a 'pre-release' version of the video in case some finer details get missed during production. there's this problem with humans, where we often dont catch our own mistakes. that is the only thing this is meant to resolve. someone who wasnt there when the video was made gets to see it with a fresh mind, and will be much more 'sensitive' to the potential detail errors.

as for openly posting the feedback from ECC squad.. to a degree i agree with you, but the problem here is that the idea is these people get early access to fix things before they get released (that's the goal of this whole mess, isnt it?) so if they would be discussing it on a publicly visible platform.. that sort of gives away the video. it's also largely "not the point" to just have an issue tracker of how many errors were caught during production.. because holy heck, there'd probably be hundreds per day. that's what procedures are for: to catch the mistakes humans are inevitably going to make. it might be interesting to have some form of metric of how many mistakes make it into released videos.. but anything that gets caught before that is honestly only proof that the procedures work?

i'm a battery technician. i probably make a douzen stupid-ass mistakes every day, so do all of my colleagues. but the procedures in place mean that only a VERY small amount of those mistakes make it out the door, and turn into RMA's. (and again.. humans, perfection is impossible)

and because quoting yourself is now apparently a thing, i'll end with one too. (i actually went to dig into my post history for this)

Everyone having a good idea of what needs to change, even trying to change it, but it taking a long time isn't surprising. Even being in the works. What is required to implement it quickly? Well, exactly what happened: a multi-day shut down of the content pipeline, finding out what "page" everyone is on and getting most of everyone in on the right "page".

If makes a lot more sense the issue if you look at something like manufacturing. If you're selling a product with a defect, if it requires a new mold to be made, that takes time and then you have to produce everything. A "simple fix" in CAD could take 6-9 months to show up in a physical result. Same type of issue, realistically.  Also, I imagine LMG employees needed at least a day or two to think deeper about the problems, as they "in their mind" but not "on their mind". You also need energy and "mental space" to think through the complexities.
The YT algo enforces either Clickbait or anti-meta Clickbait titles & thumbnails.  I follow one smaller news-type channel that, after working with some consulting firms, started putting the reaction-face in their thumbnails? Result: about 50% increased click through. Unfortunately, it's not going away, but there are steps to be taken to not over do it.
They changed an entire part of their inventory management. It was in the video. Billet was dealt with directly and, per Billet's own post on Reddit, see the issue as resolved. For the video, what needed to be said is what Linus said: this shouldn't have happened and large changes are made so it doesn't happen again.
The one thing the Drama Spam Bots do it completely screw up the ability for people to understand there's very little, publicly, either party can ever say. Canada has pretty strict anti-reprisal laws on employers. Something even Linus has mentioned a few times on the WAN show.
Defamation is the likely answer you're looking for. Canadian Company and a Canadian citizen former employee. They're under Canadian law, in that regard. If it was Americans, you can get away with a lot (even if they're lies) before you risk losing a legal case. Since most are used to American Social Media, it's easy to forget the oddity that is American Defamation laws. (Thanks, SCOTUS. Sullivan was a terrible precedent.)

I've mentioned how vague the malfeasance accusations are and Madison is a professional in the Social Media space. That vagueness wasn't an accident. But the issue is if she did "name names" and any part wasn't remembered right, well, that's a big problem. But the vagueness also leaves open the motivations for the Thread in general, as it's massive zeitgeist PR damage at minimal context.

Because there's still a couple of ways this massive blows back on Madison. Its entirely possible, due to her declining mental state, what she thought she was reporting and what actually got reported are different. Then, the issues actually came out as she left, which lead to some dismissals. I think people clearly missed Linus all but telling everyone, in the video, that they fire a couple of people a year. This entire issue is far from over.  Which is why you don't do this stuff on social media.

Lebon14 reacted to CPotter in LMG Sponsor "Do Not Work With List"
    Hey,

Please see below for a list of product verticals that we don't work with. Please note this list is subject to change.

    Drugs / Alcohol
We do not believe this is responsible for us to promote at this time.

    Crypto / NFT’s / ICO’s
Many of our team members believe crypto has long-term potential, but the market is largely unregulated and flooded with scams and people/groups with your worst interest in mind. This is not a field we want to get mixed up in at this time.

    Credit Loans
Large life decisions like taking out loans is not between us and our audience. We are not financial advisors. We have worked with banks in the past who offer these types of services, but we want to avoid promoting them directly at this time.

    Drop Shipping as a Service
“Drop shipping” simply means listing an item that is available from another source. There’s nothing inherently wrong with a retailer listing a product that’s in stock at their supplier’s warehouse… HOWEVER there is a growing industry that offers to help individuals set up their own drop shipping business with basically no standards for the quality of the service and products.
After our initial fact-finding, we worked with one of these companies in 2023, but based on community feedback we don’t plan to again.

Gaming Chairs that don’t prioritize ergonomics
The market is oversaturated, and only continues to be flooded with low quality lookalikes. We will continue to use our discretion when entering into partnerships with chair companies and closely monitor our community’s feedback.
    Mental Health/Therapy
We are pro therapy and advise anyone reading this to prioritize their mental health. With that being said, we would hate for someone's mental health to be negatively impacted by a bad experience with a service that we promoted. We do not intend to promote any companies who profit from these services at this time.

    Online Sport Betting
We do not believe this is responsible for us to promote at this time.

    Gambling (More Broadly)
We do not believe this is responsible for us to promote at this time.

    Pay-2-Win Games
Many free to play games can be predatory. We test mobile games to see if that game can be enjoyed without the NEED to sink money into it. We know this is a fine line, but with our community’s feedback we believe we can separate the bad from the ones that are safe for partnership.
Eg. Diablo Immortal (On Launch) = Bad. Genshin Impact = Not Bad

    Unproven Kickstarters / Indiegogo Campaigns
We’ve simply seen too many issues with false promises and delivery issues from first-time campaigners. We DO, however, understand that for some companies crowd funding is more of a marketing and demand-evaluation exercise, so we have worked with companies who have had successful campaigns or product launches in the past and our intention is to continue doing so.

Lebon14 reacted to CPotter in Weekly Sponsor Concerns Update - Aug 25, 2023
    Hey everyone,

Please see below for our first weekly sponsor update! If you have any questions or concerns, we would advise centralizing feedback into our main "Sponsor Complaints" thread. That way we don't have to maintain updates across 52 of these weekly updates by this time next year.

    Secretlab
We're still keeping communication going with the folks over at Secretlab regarding the support service end of their products. We don’t have any new information to share at this time, but we will keep the dialogue going.

    Volta
We saw there was an additional Volta post. We apologize for any issues people are experiencing, and we want to clarify that we’re no longer partnered with them.

    BuildRedux
Regarding the RMA issue posted earlier this week, we'll see if we can be put in contact with their customer support in case there are larger issues with their RMA process. This is a partnership that Geoff oversees, so he may be in contact with the poster next week to gather some additional information regarding the shipping of the label if needed. While we have no reason to believe they're using parts previously used for mining, perhaps we need to check in on their RMA policy to make sure delays aren't their standard.

    Anker
I believe we are at day 225 or so of asking to be taken off all of their sites. We were removed from taken off their primary landing page last week, but we are still waiting and requesting to be removed from their different Amazon pages as well. Our team was in contact with Anker as of Tuesday about the matter, and we will keep everyone updated.

We recently posted our sponsor "Do Not Work With" list here on the forum, and will be updating it as needed. We think it's important that our audience better understand our processes for vetting new sponsors.

Part of that process is vetting through the community. We regularly post potential sponsors on the board to see if any one of you has experience with the different brands that reach out to us, and we take that into consideration before engaging. Ideally we'd love to get every single item in to try it firsthand, but time and manpower doesn't always allow for that, so it's important for us to get a temperature check on something before having it brought in to try or test.

Thanks for reading this, and thanks for your fairness and patience while we work with our different partners to try to better the field as a whole.

    Until next Friday!

Lebon14 reacted to LMGcommunity in Labs Review of LTT Video Content During the Production Break
After thoroughly reviewing each LTT video containing Labs data or analysis, we have arrived at the following results.
Of the 32 videos reviewed, 25 contained Labs Test Data.   Of these 25 reviews, Labs has determined that in the T1 category, (2) videos should be removed until we can verify the results with a second test system.  We also determined that (2) videos contained charts that should be completely replaced after verification of the test results.  In the T2 category, Labs verified that the data is correct, but we have 24 corrections to make to 21 graphs that contain process errors on the charts.  Process errors included transposed numbers, numbers rounded incorrectly, incorrectly labelled tests/components and cross entry into the wrong charts.  These errors are being addressed with continuous process changes, including Labs taking over all charting responsibilities and hiring specialized personnel. We have noticed a significant drop in errors discovered and/or released over the past few weeks.  In the T3 category, we discovered eight typos that included reversed label descriptions and/or incorrect information like the number of PCIe lanes in a spec chart.  While these are pinned comments, we are working on correcting the videos for now.  As discussed in the video today, this post or workbook will not be updated.

I'd love to see an in-depth video (or video series) detailing every benchmarking setup and the benchmarking processes. After that you would be able to refer/link to those videos whenever you use a specific benchmark in later videos. It would be an interesting way to show everyone "how the sausage is made" as Gary put it.
