I had a open side door full tower case from 2001.  I left it open always..  and used no fans... Just a heatsink fan or liquid cooling fans and thats it.  It doesn't get any dust no need to clean anything,, except once in a while the heatsink fan or rad fans.  Everything else stays clean.  I highly recommend doing it. Your PSU will stay cool, so will everything else.  Plus you can take away some fans and have it be silent.  Just don't finger it that's all.

Sounds like a neat mod, but acoustics might suffer. If that's of no concern, then I say go for it

HDD in General aren't much fun
But it also depends on the 5400rpm HDD. There are ones that are worse than others.

Anyway, it is possible, but you could expect a couple of seconds worse loading times.
500GB are like 90€ or so, I paid 189€ for my Samsung 850 EVO (wich was mostly used as a PS4 Drive for reasons)...
And I don't really believe a 7200rpm HDD will be that much better.

You have two disadvantages with that:
    a) higher noise
    b) higher failure rate.

So its either a SSD or nothing really.

    My recommendation:
Just get a 500GB SSD, keep your HDD (or replace it with a 4TB Model) and copy the game you want to play to the SSD when you want to play it.

With Steam you can just do that.
You just have to copy the appmanifest*.acf that belongs to your game to the Folder on the SSD.

Overwatch will run, however, you may experience character models and maps taking forever to load in upon initial launch. This happens to a friend I play comp with, where the first few matches we play have to be Quick Play or Arcades because their character models don't load in for the first 5-10 minutes on their laptop, which uses a 5400rpm drive.

    5400RPM HDDs as a whole aren't fun.

OW might be fine, given it's an online game and shouldn't have to load as much from the drive.

It may be using different techniques or default to different settings.  Hardware acceleration isn't just one thing, it's a name given to a group of technologies, any one of more of which may work or not work on your specific combination of hardware and software.  You may also want to check using "stats for nerds" by right clicking on the video that it's actually using VP9 and not an inferior codec.

Alternatively, you could try switching to Firefox.  It's a perfectly viable option since they revamped it for version 57.

    Not in my experience.

Chromium browsers behave with YouTube differently than, say Firefox or Edge.
Chrome's just gonna try forcing VP9 if it can; Firefox by default (and Edge regardless) will force the AVC or MP4 version of the video to play instead.

YouTube is incredibly iffy on hardware acceleration on Chromium browsers, because it's incredibly hit or miss.
If you're having issues with it on Chrome, try YouTube on Edge, because hardware acceleration actually works on that browser.

Acceleration has a purpose you know, it accelerates things and stuff.
There might be some problems for some users but before disabling it I'd rather try to fix it.
    But if it ain't broke........

It's possible your hardware actually lacks the necessary components to accelerate VP9 playback.  Despite the importance of YouTube, hardware support is surprisingly rare even in some relatively recent releases.

More often than not, you'd undervolt while retaining stock clocks so you can get a more aggressive undervolt and not raise temperature drastically. My undervolt was incredibly slight, 1.045v versus stock 1.05v, but I managed to keep a higher frequency than stock at the same time.

If overclocking is your goal, you probably want to add voltage, not remove it.

Prolly 6 months, and as summer rolled around, I'd clock it back down to 4GHz and undervolt it. Primarily because my room would get hot.

High temperatures don't kill your computer overnight. My daily was an i7-5930k at 95C for awhile and I don't feel any bit bad about it, especially knowing that it's working plenty fine in its second home. It'll reduce the total life of your components, but you're not going to kill it for a few years, especially if it's under these loads infrequently like most gaming components are.

Your rig's not a disgrace at all, the PCMR bullshit only encourages those new to the scene to feel discouraged and unwelcome.
Try out MSI Afterburner and see the temperatures from there; it tends to give decent results.

It's not. It's rather hot. How's HPU fan speed set up and what is airflow config in case? As for testing, run Asus RealBench. It takes maybe 30mins.

    That's a pretty good system.
Havne't played Nier Automata, but I have seen clips of it and it does look like quite a pretty - and graphically intensive - game.

Depends on your settings. If you're using a 60hz monitor, try enabling vsync or fps cap. No point running it hard at 200FPS if you can only see 60 of them.

there is no break in that you need to do with any PC, if it runs and doesnt overheat thats it it works and you will realize this automatically once you play any of the games you play regularly.

Are you looking for games with built in benchmarks that you can use to test your rig and get a result at the end?

    If so,
    Metro 2033
    Deus Ex Mankind Divided
    GTA V

Also artificial benchmarks like Timespy, Heaven, and Superposition.

If you're just looking for an intensive game that you can play to take advantage of your new hardware, then Battlefield V open beta is free and is extremely demanding at ultra settings.

What system do you have that you are wanting to test?
