Yeah, I don't think he has changed either, he has always been that arrogant "i am right, you are wrong" kind of guy that does janky things.
Back in the old house where everyone were friends, they were better at keeping him at bay, and also as you say, they were actually making fun videos where it didn't really matter they were janky, that is what he was known for.
You can see that arrogant personality slip out of Linus in even the old videos, but then there was Nicky V or someone else back at him with a quick jab or a joke for acting like a douche. Now he only has Luke who really can't control him anymore.

I think it was a tongue in cheek jab at Linus, because that is exactly what he said about the 700$ gpu waterblock, about how that was a stupid product that noone in their right mind should buy, meanwhile he sells the same kind of luxury items and has built PC-s before with same kind of luxury cases, waterblocks etc, drives a luxury car etc.

Hey we were generally discussing 😠 but yes I said that to point it out, not because I thought you didn't realize it. But that there are alot of new people on these forums that I thought would enjoy the joke if they realized as well. A little bit of positivity should even out this generally negative thread I would think!

Yeah, if you missed the joke I armchair moderated the armchair moderator, making me the bigger rulebreaker of the 2, and now with this reply I just added nothing to the original discussion (as did you), so now I also derailed the topic, breaking a further rule.

Why should he reach out for a comment? Steve is doing what reporter should do - he reports on the issue, that's what it looks like. Not the "bothsideism" when NASA expert should be joined by flat-earth believer for "balanced" approach.

Tell us you didn't watch this new video without telling us that you didn't watch the video.

There's "addressing" and then there's DOING. It's what they are actively DOING that Steve is calling out here. You can "address" things all you want but actions, as we've all heard, speak louder than words.

As someone that has been watching LTT and its channels over the years since 2013, nothing makes me happier than seeing Linus getting taken down a peg or two.
 
The dude has become a complete joke, and oftentimes is so disconnected from what's going on in the world around him, with him living in his own bubbles. For years now I've been saying that the passion that used to be there is all dried up, and the only thing he cares is to rush out their work for the sake of turning a profit.
 
Like, I am so completely tired of the stupid shit he does in videos now. Almost every project Linus works on in a video gets effectively sabotaged by Linus himself, cause he can't take an extra fucking minute to do it right. Like when it comes to those videos in his house, such as the recent one about setting up his server to use his pool to dump heat. I'm no plumber, but I was pretty livid over how bad that job was done, and know plumbers that would be completely flabbergasted by the shit him and Alex did in that video, all because Linus can't just go (or send someone) to a hardware store to pick up the right pieces for the job. Instead he chooses to waste his time, and the time of his employees, to put together a "solution" that is doomed to fail, that they're just gonna have to break down and redo at a later point.
 
And that's just one example. There have been so many times their projects have ended in either failure or an unconventional victory all because he can't wait one single minute to do something the right way, and just wants to YOLO it for Youtube engagement.

For me thats one of the worst offenses overall. In almost every review they rightfully talk about the insane prices lately, but if there is some sponsoring money lying arround, a 600usd rebranded 4060TI is suddently a budget card and must be great, because its made by Asus. Like WTF.

ZERO chill from Steve. Yeah. that response from Linus was not good, at all. Imagine these 2 arguing on this week's WAN show. Linus should have let the CEO handle this as he is no longer the CEO and handled this as a personal attack.

I don't understand how GN didn't go through proper journalistic practices for this conflict. Like all of the points presented in the original 44-minute video had corroborating evidence. As someone who loves LTT content the response made yesterday was difficult to read.

And ya, splitting hairs around selling versus auctioning was completely ridiculous. If a brand Linus was reviewing made the same semantic argument about a warranty claim that wasn't accepted, he would have ripped them to shreds, and rightfully so.

I found Linus's response to be quite odd as he didn't mention GPU, CPU, or PSU errors at all. Not an explanation of what happened or why they were so inaccurate.  There was also the forgotten mention of a sponsored gpu review from Asus claiming that a 600$ "budget" 4070 is going to perform "great" simply because the card was manufactured by Asus. That's not objective in any sense of the word. There is no excuse for things like that when you could just measure the performance and base your final results on data, not how previous cards performed. 
 
I'm frankly disappointed in the whole company as LTT Labs has failed to change my opinion on why I should take them seriously when they keep blundering hardware.

Yeah, I'm pretty disappointed in Linus' response to this situation. All he had to do was be honest, apologize, and talk about what they are going to do to prevent this stuff moving forward. The gaslighting is not a good look.

If this video is true and Billet Labs is truthful, Linus basically just lied in his apology and didn’t even respond to Billet UNTIL Gamers Nexus created his video, making matters look worse than initially thought.

Their product did not suck. Their price for the block is not that far aways from the cost of GPU+CPU waterblock and extra fittings combined. Depending on where you live, it might even cost effective to get the copper block. If any product that is a bit more expensive than what a normal person would get is automatically a product that "sucks" and shouldn't exist, 90% of the hardware you see in LTT videos also shouldn't exist (fancy cases, rgb, high end gpus, 600$ motherboards, gaming chairs, the cars linus buys, etc.). Anything related to water-cooling in the first place is generally considered a giant waste of money if what you value is the price to performance ratio

Since Linus only cares about money, the obvious thing to do is to cancel your Floatplane subscription. Also don't buy their merch. Who in their right mind is going to pay $250 USD or $70 USD for a backpack and screwdriver respectively?
